About this app

WHAT IT DOES

Babbel Web Streak Reminder reads your language learning streak and daily activity data from your Babbel account and displays a floating streak reminder badge showing your current streak days, daily goal progress, and next lesson reminder. The badge shows the streak count with a fire icon, daily goal progress as a percentage or fraction, and the next lesson title. The extension tracks streak history per month, storing each streak and goal record with a timestamp. When you reach milestone streak days (3, 7, 14, 30, 60, 100, or 365), a desktop notification is triggered. If your daily goal progress is below 50% late in the day, a gentle reminder notification is sent. The panel displays your current month's streak history and changes over time.

WHERE IT RUNS

This extension works on all Babbel pages at babbel.com and its subdomains, specifically on account pages where learning streak and daily activity data are displayed. It runs on the main account page, the learning dashboard, the course page, and any page displaying streak information. The extension operates entirely within your browser and does not access Babbel's servers directly—it reads only what is visible on the page you are viewing. It works alongside the free BotGentz extension, which provides the necessary scripting environment.

HOW TO USE

Install the extension, then navigate to babbel.com and log in to your account. The extension automatically creates a floating streak reminder badge on the page. Click the extension's icon in your browser toolbar to open the settings panel. Use the "Show Overlay" / "Hide Overlay" button to toggle the badge visibility. The badge shows your streak days, daily goal progress, and next lesson. Use the "Refresh" button to manually update the badge with the latest streak information. The "Show daily goal progress" toggle controls whether goal progress appears. The "Streak notifications" toggle controls desktop notifications for streak milestones and low progress alerts. Adjust the overlay transparency using the opacity dropdown (70%, 82%, 92%, or 100%). Drag the badge by clicking and holding anywhere inside it. Resize it by dragging the bottom-right corner. Close the badge with the × button.

LEARNING STREAK EXTRACTION WITH DAILY GOAL TRACKING AND MILESTONE NOTIFICATIONS

Unlike simple streak display tools, this extension uses a multi-selector extraction engine to find streak days, daily goal progress, and lesson information from Babbel's varying page structures. It searches for streak days using multiple selector patterns (.streak-days, .streak-count, .learning-streak) and falls back to text parsing with number extraction. Daily goal progress is extracted from goal selectors, supporting both "X / Y" format and percentage format. Next lesson information is extracted from lesson name selectors. Monthly streak history is stored as a key-value object where keys are year-month strings and values are arrays of streak records with timestamps, limited to 20 entries per month. Milestone notifications trigger at specific streak day counts (3, 7, 14, 30, 60, 100, 365) with a once-per-day cooldown. A low progress alert triggers when goal progress is below 50% after 6 PM local time, with a once-per-day cooldown.

THE PANEL

The panel supports drag-to-move anywhere on the page. It remembers its position per site, so it stays where you placed it on babbel.com. Click the panel header to collapse it down to just the minimized bubble, or click the expand handle to show the full panel. The panel can be resized by dragging the bottom-right corner. Press the Escape key to close the expanded panel and return to the minimized state. All panel settings, including position, size, collapsed state, opacity, daily goal visibility, notification preference, and monthly streak history, are saved per site and persist across browsing sessions.

PLEASE NOTE

This extension requires the free BotGentz extension to be installed and active, as it provides the underlying DOM injection and script execution environment. Babbel's website changes periodically, and learning element structures, class names, and page layouts may be updated. When that happens, the extension may stop detecting streak data until an update is released. The extension stores your overlay position, size, opacity, visibility, daily goal preference, notification preference, and monthly streak history locally in your browser's storage using GM_setValue. Streak history is stored as a key-value object where keys are year-month strings and values are arrays of streak records. The streak data displayed is read from the page—the extension does not access Babbel's internal learning data. Always verify with Babbel directly for the most accurate learning streak information. No data is ever sent to any server, and no personal information is collected. You can clear all stored settings at any time by clearing your browser data for babbel.com.
