WHAT IT DOES

This tool connects to your MetaMask wallet and calculates the total USD value of your portfolio. It automatically reads your native currency balance (ETH, MATIC, BNB, etc.) and fetches ERC-20 token balances for any contract addresses you provide. The tool then retrieves current USD prices from CoinGecko's API and calculates the total value of each asset, displaying a portfolio summary with individual asset breakdowns. All data is processed locally — the only external calls are to the blockchain and CoinGecko for price data.

HOW TO USE

Connect your MetaMask wallet using the Connect button. In the text area, enter the contract addresses of the ERC-20 tokens you want to include in your portfolio, one per line. Use the preset buttons (USDC, DAI, USDT, WETH, UNI, LINK) to quickly add common tokens. Click "Check Total Value" to fetch your balances and prices. The tool will display your total portfolio value in USD, along with a breakdown of each asset showing balance and current USD value. The native currency of your current network (ETH, MATIC, BNB, etc.) is included automatically.

TECHNICAL MECHANISM

The tool uses the BGWallet bridge to access the blockchain provider via ethers.js. It reads your native currency balance using provider.getBalance(address). For each token address you provide, it creates a contract instance with the ERC-20 balanceOf and decimals methods, and queries your wallet's balance. The tool then builds a list of unique token symbols and fetches current USD prices from CoinGecko's /simple/price API using a batch request for all symbols. It calculates each asset's USD value by multiplying the balance by the current price, then sums them for the total portfolio value. The tool handles price caching to avoid repeated API calls during a session. Native currency mapping for each network (ETH, MATIC, BNB) ensures accurate price lookups.

WHAT IT CANNOT SEE

This tool cannot read token balances without user-provided token contract addresses — it does not automatically discover all tokens held by a wallet without an external indexer. It cannot read balances from non-EVM networks like Solana, Bitcoin, or Tron. It cannot display NFT values without external marketplace data. It cannot provide real-time price data if the CoinGecko API is unavailable or rate-limited. It cannot account for tokens that are not listed on CoinGecko. It cannot read balances from disconnected or inactive wallets. It cannot account for assets held in other wallets, cross-chain bridges, or DeFi protocols. It cannot provide historical price data or portfolio performance metrics.

This tool works only with EVM-compatible wallets connected via the BGWallet bridge. Prices are fetched from CoinGecko's public API and may be delayed or unavailable. The tool does not store or transmit any data — all processing occurs in your browser. Token balances are displayed for the network you are currently connected to — switch networks to view balances on different chains. Always verify token contract addresses from official sources.
