About this app

WHAT IT DOES

This tool establishes a secure connection between your Ledger hardware wallet and Web3 applications through the EVM wallet bridge. It reads your wallet address and chain ID, verifies network compatibility, and confirms that your Ledger is properly recognized by the wallet connector. While it does not initiate any transactions, it provides comprehensive real-time status information about your hardware wallet's connection state, including the current network, chain ID, and whether your device is correctly identified as a Ledger.

The tool performs multi-layer detection by inspecting the wallet provider for Ledger-specific properties, hardware wallet flags, and device identifiers. It gives you immediate visual confirmation that your Ledger is ready for signing operations, displaying your address, network name, and a dedicated Ledger status panel when the device is detected.

HOW TO USE

Connect your Ledger device to your computer via USB or Bluetooth and unlock it with your PIN. Open the tool and click the "connect" button, which triggers the wallet bridge to detect your Ledger through your browser's Web3 provider such as MetaMask with Ledger Live integration or the Ledger Web3 provider. The tool will automatically display your address, chain ID, and network name. A green status indicator confirms successful connection, and a dedicated Ledger info panel appears when the device is detected.

For the best experience, use a Web3 wallet that supports Ledger hardware devices, such as MetaMask with Ledger enabled or the Ledger Live browser extension. The tool does not require you to sign any transactions, allowing you to safely verify your connection status without committing to any on-chain actions. Use the refresh button to update the status display at any time.

TECHNICAL MECHANISM — LEDGER DETECTION THROUGH PROVIDER INSPECTION

The tool detects Ledger connections by inspecting the provider object exposed through the BGWallet bridge. It checks for Ledger-specific properties such as "isLedger", "_isLedger", or "isHardwareWallet" flags that are commonly set by wallet providers when a Ledger device is in use. Additionally, it evaluates the provider's constructor name for indicators like "LedgerProvider" and examines nested provider objects for hardware wallet metadata. The detection also checks for device properties including device type identifiers that indicate a Ledger connection.

This multi-layered detection ensures accurate identification across different wallet implementations and versions, including MetaMask with Ledger, Ledger Live, and other Web3 wallets that support Ledger integration. The wallet bridge handles the low-level communication with the Ledger device through WebUSB, WebHID, or Bluetooth protocols, exposing the hardware wallet's capabilities through the standard ethers.js provider interface. This allows the tool to read addresses and chain information without requiring direct interaction with Ledger's proprietary APIs.

WHAT IT CANNOT SEE

This tool cannot manage or recover your Ledger device state, including seed phrases, PIN codes, or recovery phrases. It does not display your wallet balances, transaction history, token holdings, or NFT collections. It cannot interact with non-EVM chains such as Solana, Bitcoin, Cosmos, Tron, or Polkadot, as the wallet bridge only supports EVM-compatible networks. The tool cannot initiate or sign transactions without explicit user approval on the Ledger hardware device itself. It also cannot detect Ledger devices that are locked, disconnected, or connected through incompatible wallet software that does not properly expose the device through the Web3 provider interface.

PLEASE NOTE — EVM CHAINS ONLY

This tool works exclusively with EVM-compatible blockchain networks including Ethereum, Polygon, Arbitrum, Optimism, Avalanche, BNB Smart Chain, Base, and other Ethereum Virtual Machine networks. It does not support Bitcoin, Solana, Cosmos, Polkadot, or any non-EVM chains. If you attempt to connect through an unsupported network, the wallet bridge may fail to detect your Ledger device or return an invalid chain ID. Always verify that your wallet is connected to a supported EVM network before using this tool. Ledger devices must have the Ethereum app installed and open for EVM network operations.
