About this app
WHAT IT DOES
Coursera Web Certificate Progress Tracker automatically scans Coursera course and certificate progress pages to extract comprehensive progress data including course completion percentage, graded assignments, quiz scores, peer reviews, weeks completed, assignments completed, and estimated completion date. The tool displays a floating overlay panel showing a summary of certificate progress with a visual progress bar and color-coded completion indicator—green for 80%+, yellow for 50-79%, and gray for below 50%. Quiz scores are displayed with color-coded performance indicators based on percentage. Upcoming deadlines and incomplete assignments are highlighted for attention. Weekly progress and assignment completion are shown as quick references. Estimated completion date is displayed when available. This provides a complete, organized view of your Coursera certificate progress.
WHERE IT RUNS
This extension operates exclusively on coursera.org domain pages that contain course and certificate progress content—specifically pages with "/learn", "/courses", "/progress", or "/certificate" in the URL path, or pages that display course progress and assignment information. It works alongside the free BotGentz companion extension, which provides the necessary DOM access and page interaction capabilities. The certificate progress tracker runs entirely within your local browser instance and does not communicate with any external servers or APIs. All progress data extraction, score tracking, and preference storage are processed and stored on your machine, ensuring your course data and tracking preferences remain private. It supports all modern Chromium-based browsers (Chrome, Edge, Brave, Opera) and Firefox when paired with the BotGentz bridge.
HOW TO USE
After installing both BotGentz and this progress tracker, navigate to any Coursera course or certificate progress page. Within 1-2 seconds, a panel appears in the bottom-right corner displaying your course name and progress summary. The "Progress" section shows completion percentage with a progress bar, week progress, and assignment completion. The "Quiz Scores" section displays all quiz scores with color-coded performance indicators. The "Deadlines" section highlights upcoming deadlines and incomplete assignments. Estimated completion date is shown when available. The panel provides a complete, organized view of your course progress and helps you stay on track.
COURSE PROGRESS DATA EXTRACTION AND SCORE TRACKING
The certificate progress tracker uses a multi-strategy extraction system to locate and parse progress data from Coursera pages. It first attempts to find structured progress elements using selectors based on the site's typical class naming patterns, including course progress containers, assignment items, and quiz elements. When these selectors fail due to site updates, the tool falls back to text-based parsing, scanning the page for progress-related patterns using pattern matching for percentages, week counts, assignment counts, and score formats. Completion percentages are extracted through pattern matching for percentage values with "complete" or "progress" labels. Week progress is extracted through pattern matching for "X/Y weeks" patterns. Assignment completion is extracted through pattern matching for "X/Y assignments" patterns. Quiz scores are extracted through pattern matching for "X/Y" score formats or percentage values. Peer review information is extracted through pattern matching for "peer review" labels. Upcoming deadlines are extracted from assignment elements or through pattern matching for "due" or "deadline" labels. Estimated completion dates are extracted through pattern matching for "estimated completion" labels. All data is presented in a clean, organized panel with color-coded performance indicators.
THE PANEL
The certificate progress tracker panel is a compact, functional overlay that integrates into the Coursera course page. It can be dragged by clicking and holding the title bar, positioning the panel anywhere on the screen for optimal visibility while you track your progress. The panel includes a built-in snap feature that automatically aligns to the nearest screen edge when released within 48 pixels, keeping your workspace organized. Click the collapse arrow in the top-right corner to minimize the panel to a small icon bubble showing a gear emoji, preserving screen space while keeping the tool accessible. The panel is not resizable in this version, maintaining a consistent compact size that works on all screen resolutions. Press the Escape key to instantly hide the panel; press Escape again to restore it. All position, collapse state, and progress tracking preferences are saved locally using GM_setValue and persist across browsing sessions.
PLEASE NOTE
This extension requires the free BotGentz extension to function—the certificate progress tracker does not work standalone. Coursera occasionally updates its page layouts and course presentation formats, which may temporarily affect progress data extraction accuracy. The tool extracts progress data from the visible page content; if progress information is loaded dynamically after page load, you may need to wait a moment or refresh the page for the panel to populate. Quiz scores and progress percentages are based on extracted data and are provided as a reference—always verify your actual course progress on the official Coursera platform. The tool does not store or transmit any data; all progress data extraction, score tracking, and settings are processed and saved entirely within your browser. This tool is designed for personal learning tracking and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Coursera or its parent company. Course progress and certificate eligibility are subject to Coursera's terms; always review your official Coursera account for authoritative progress information.
