About this app
WHAT IT DOES
Height Web Task Age Highlighter automatically scans Height task lists and project pages to extract comprehensive task data including task age, creation date, last activity date, and task status. The tool highlights tasks directly on the page based on their age with color-coded indicators—green for new tasks (less than 1 week), yellow for medium-age tasks (1-2 weeks), orange for older tasks (2-4 weeks), and red for stale tasks (over 4 weeks). A floating overlay panel displays a summary of task age distribution with counts for each age category and a visual distribution bar. Tasks are shown sorted by age with their age in days and status. A legend explains the color-coding. This provides a complete, visual overview of task ages and helps you identify stale tasks that need attention.
WHERE IT RUNS
This extension operates exclusively on height.app domain pages that contain task and project content—specifically pages with "/tasks", "/project", "/list", or "/dashboard" in the URL path, or pages that display task lists and project information. It works alongside the free BotGentz companion extension, which provides the necessary DOM access and page interaction capabilities. The task age highlighter runs entirely within your local browser instance and does not communicate with any external servers or APIs. All task data extraction, age calculation, and preference storage are processed and stored on your machine, ensuring your task data and tracking preferences remain private. It supports all modern Chromium-based browsers (Chrome, Edge, Brave, Opera) and Firefox when paired with the BotGentz bridge.
HOW TO USE
After installing both BotGentz and this task age highlighter, navigate to any Height task list or project page. Within 1-2 seconds, a panel appears in the bottom-right corner displaying a summary with counts for New, Medium, Old, and Stale tasks. A visual distribution bar shows the age breakdown at a glance. The "Tasks by Age" section lists all tasks with their name, status, and age in days, sorted by age category. Each task on the page is highlighted with a colored left border matching its age category. The legend explains the color-coding. The panel provides a complete, organized view of task ages and helps you prioritize stale tasks.
TASK DATA EXTRACTION AND AGE CALCULATION
The task age highlighter uses a multi-strategy extraction system to locate and parse task data from Height pages. It first attempts to find structured task elements using selectors based on the site's typical class naming patterns, including "task-item," "task-row," "task-card," and "list-item." When these selectors fail due to site updates, the tool falls back to text-based parsing, scanning the page for task-related patterns using pattern matching for task names, date formats, and status labels. Task names are extracted from title elements or through pattern matching. Creation dates are extracted through pattern matching for date formats or "X days ago" patterns. Task status is determined through keyword detection for "Done," "Completed," "In Progress," or "Open." Task age is calculated by comparing the creation date (or parsed "X days ago" value) to the current date. Age categories are determined using thresholds: less than 7 days maps to New (green), 7-14 days to Medium (yellow), 15-30 days to Old (orange), and over 30 days to Stale (red). The highlighting is applied directly to task elements by adding a colored left border. All data is presented in a clean, organized panel with color-coded indicators.
THE PANEL
The task age highlighter panel is a compact, functional overlay that integrates into the Height task page. It can be dragged by clicking and holding the title bar, positioning the panel anywhere on the screen for optimal visibility while you review tasks. The panel includes a built-in snap feature that automatically aligns to the nearest screen edge when released within 48 pixels, keeping your workspace organized. Click the collapse arrow in the top-right corner to minimize the panel to a small icon bubble showing a gear emoji, preserving screen space while keeping the tool accessible. The panel is not resizable in this version, maintaining a consistent compact size that works on all screen resolutions. Press the Escape key to instantly hide the panel; press Escape again to restore it. All position, collapse state, and age highlighting preferences are saved locally using GM_setValue and persist across browsing sessions.
PLEASE NOTE
This extension requires the free BotGentz extension to function—the task age highlighter does not work standalone. Height occasionally updates its page layouts and task presentation formats, which may temporarily affect task data extraction accuracy. The tool extracts task data from the visible page content; if tasks are loaded dynamically after page load (e.g., infinite scroll), you may need to scroll to load more tasks for the panel to see them. Age calculation is based on task creation date or "X days ago" patterns and may not reflect tasks with custom date formats. The tool does not store or transmit any data; all task data extraction, age calculation, and settings are processed and saved entirely within your browser. This tool is designed for personal task management and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Height or its parent company. Task data is subject to Height's terms; always review your official Height account for authoritative task information.
