About this app
WHAT IT DOES
This tool enables you to liquid stake native ETH with Swell, a liquid staking protocol designed to provide high-quality staking yields with a focus on decentralization and validator performance. It reads your current ETH balance on Ethereum Mainnet, the Swell staking contract details, and the current gas price to provide an accurate cost estimate before you commit. The tool then constructs and submits a transaction to the Swell contract, depositing your specified amount of ETH and receiving swETH (Swell's liquid staking token) in return.
Swell offers a simple and efficient liquid staking experience, allowing you to earn staking rewards while maintaining liquidity through swETH. The protocol selects validators based on performance and decentralization criteria, ensuring that your staked ETH is securing the network through reliable operators. swETH represents your staked ETH position and automatically accrues staking rewards over time, making it a powerful tool for yield generation and DeFi participation.
HOW TO USE
Connect your wallet using the "connect" button. Ensure you are connected to Ethereum Mainnet (chain ID 1) — the tool will display your current chain ID, ETH balance, and any existing swETH balance. Enter the amount of ETH you wish to liquid stake in the input field. The tool will display the staking contract address and estimate the gas cost for the deposit transaction.
Review the stake summary, then click "liquid stake with Swell" to sign and submit the transaction through your wallet. The tool will wait for confirmation and display the transaction details on Etherscan. After the transaction is confirmed, you will receive swETH in your wallet representing your staked ETH position. Your swETH balance will automatically accrue staking rewards over time, and you can monitor it through the tool's balance display. swETH can be used across the DeFi ecosystem, including lending platforms, liquidity pools, and as collateral for borrowing.
TECHNICAL MECHANISM — SWELL LIQUID STAKING
The tool interacts with the Swell swETH contract, which implements the deposit() function. This function accepts ETH as value and handles the underlying mechanics of depositing ETH into Swell's staking pool and minting swETH tokens in return. When you call deposit(), the Swell contract forwards your ETH to a curated set of validators that have been vetted for performance, reliability, and decentralization.
Swell's validator selection process focuses on high-quality operators with strong track records, ensuring that your staked ETH is generating optimal yields while maintaining network security. In return for your deposit, the contract mints swETH tokens at a rate determined by the current exchange rate between ETH and swETH. This exchange rate increases over time as staking rewards are accrued by the protocol's validators. swETH is an ERC-20 token that represents your claim on the underlying staked ETH plus accumulated rewards — the amount of swETH you hold stays constant, but its value in ETH increases over time. The withdrawal process requires burning swETH and going through Swell's withdrawal mechanism, which is designed to be as efficient as possible while maintaining security.
WHAT IT CANNOT SEE
This tool cannot estimate exact gas costs without a live RPC call, and gas prices on Ethereum Mainnet may change between quoting and execution. It cannot guarantee yield rates or APR, as these depend on Ethereum network conditions and validator performance. The tool cannot verify the staking contract address is correct beyond the pre-configured mapping, and if the mapping becomes outdated, the transaction could fail or be sent to the wrong contract. It cannot cancel a transaction once submitted, and if the transaction fails due to gas issues or contract errors, you may still pay gas fees. The tool cannot interact with non-Ethereum chains or provide immediate withdrawal functionality — withdrawals require burning swETH and going through Swell's withdrawal process. The tool cannot handle staking of tokens other than native ETH.
PLEASE NOTE — ETHEREUM MAINNET ONLY
This tool works exclusively on Ethereum Mainnet (chain ID 1). You must be connected to Ethereum Mainnet to use this tool. It does not support other networks or layer 2 solutions. The tool only stakes native ETH and returns swETH — it does not support other assets. swETH is a value-accruing liquid staking token that appreciates against ETH over time through staking rewards. It also carries the risks of the underlying staking protocol, including slashing risks from validator misbehavior. Swell's validator selection process aims to minimize these risks, but they cannot be completely eliminated. swETH's value is generally pegged to ETH but may trade at a discount in volatile markets. Always verify the staking contract address before submitting a transaction. This tool provides a simple deposit interface; withdrawals are not supported and must be performed through Swell's official mechanisms.
