About this app
WHAT IT DOES
Mortgage Comparison Site Rate Change Badge transforms how you evaluate mortgage rates by adding visual change indicators and historical tracking directly to comparison site results. The script reads mortgage data from the page—including interest rates, APR, loan types, terms, points, lender names, and estimated monthly payments—then applies color-coded badges showing rate movements. Green down arrows indicate rates have decreased since your last visit, red up arrows show rate increases, and yellow neutral badges signal no significant change. The script tracks historical rate data locally using GM_setValue, allowing you to see trends over time without needing a separate tracking system. Best rates are automatically highlighted by loan type (30-year fixed, 15-year fixed, ARM, FHA, VA, and jumbo). The script calculates and displays monthly payments, total loan costs, and interest savings between competing rates, helping you understand the true financial impact of each offer.
WHERE IT RUNS
This script operates on all major mortgage comparison and real estate sites including Bankrate, NerdWallet, LendingTree, Zillow, Realtor.com, Credible, MortgageCalculator.org, and Trulia. It works on rate tables, lender lists, mortgage offer pages, and search result pages. The script automatically detects which site you're on and applies the appropriate extraction strategy for that platform's specific DOM structure.
HOW TO USE
After installing through the BotGentz extension, navigate to any mortgage comparison site and perform a rate search. The script automatically scans the results and applies rate change badges and highlights. Use the configuration panel to customize your experience: toggle rate change badges on or off, enable or disable best rate highlighting, control historical tracking, show monthly payments and total costs, and set your loan amount for accurate cost calculations. The panel displays real-time statistics including total lenders, number with rates, best and worst rates, and a market trend indicator. Use the "Export Rate Comparison" button to copy all rate data to your clipboard as CSV for spreadsheet analysis.
PLATFORM-ADAPTIVE DATA EXTRACTION WITH FINANCIAL CALCULATION ENGINE
This script implements a specialized extraction engine that adapts to each mortgage comparison site's unique HTML structure, maintaining distinct selector strategies for eight major platforms. Beyond basic extraction, the script performs sophisticated financial calculations including monthly payment projections using the standard amortization formula, total loan cost over the full term, and interest savings comparisons between rates. The rate change detection system stores historical rate data locally with per-lender, per-loan-type keys, enabling accurate trend tracking. The market trend indicator aggregates historical data across all lenders to show whether rates are generally rising, falling, or stable, providing valuable context for your mortgage decisions.
THE PANEL
The configuration panel is fully draggable and remembers its position per-site using GM_setValue. It snaps to screen edges when dragged near them, collapses to a compact bubble when minimized, and supports Escape key for quick collapse. All settings—including badge visibility, highlight preferences, loan amount, and tracking options—are persisted across sessions.
PLEASE NOTE
This script requires the free BotGentz extension to run. Mortgage comparison sites periodically update their page structures, which may affect the script's ability to extract rate data—we actively maintain the script and release updates to ensure compatibility. The script reads only publicly visible rate data displayed on the page and does not access hidden fields, passwords, or sensitive information. All historical rate data and settings are stored locally in your browser using GM_setValue and are never transmitted to external servers. This tool is designed to help you make informed mortgage decisions and is not affiliated with or endorsed by any lender or comparison site.
