WHAT IT DOES

Patient Portal Appointment Reminder Badge helps you stay on top of your healthcare appointments by adding visual reminders and countdown timers directly to your patient portal dashboard. The script automatically scans your upcoming appointments, extracting appointment dates, times, provider names, locations, appointment types, and statuses, then applies color-coded urgency badges that let you instantly see which appointments need attention. Green badges indicate appointments more than 7 days away, yellow for 3-7 days, orange for 1-3 days, and urgent red for appointments starting within 24 hours. Each appointment card displays a live countdown timer that updates in real-time, showing exactly how much time remains until the appointment. The script highlights the soonest upcoming appointment for easy visibility, flags cancelled or rescheduled appointments with special badges, and provides browser notifications for appointments approaching within your configured threshold.

WHERE IT RUNS

This script operates on all major patient portal platforms including MyHealthRecord, MyUPMC, MyChart, PatientPortal, Healthcare.com, Kaiser Permanente (kp.org), Epic, and Cerner. It works on appointment dashboard pages, visit summary views, schedule lists, and medical history pages. The script automatically detects which platform you're using and adapts its extraction logic to that site's specific layout.

HOW TO USE

After installing through the BotGentz extension, simply navigate to your patient portal's appointment dashboard or schedule view. The script automatically scans all visible appointments and applies reminder badges and countdown timers. Use the configuration panel to customize your experience: toggle the countdown badge on or off, enable or disable appointment timers, control color-coding by urgency, and configure notification preferences. Set the number of days before an appointment to receive browser notifications—you'll be alerted when appointments are approaching so you can prepare, arrange transportation, or confirm details. The panel displays real-time statistics showing total appointments, upcoming count, today's appointments, and cancellations. The panel also includes a manual refresh button to re-scan the page after making changes.

PLATFORM-ADAPTIVE APPOINTMENT EXTRACTION WITH REAL-TIME COUNTDOWN ENGINE

This script implements a sophisticated extraction engine that maintains distinct parsing strategies for each supported patient portal platform. The engine uses platform-specific CSS selectors to locate appointment dates, times, provider names, locations, types, and statuses. When specific selectors fail, the engine falls back to pattern matching on text content, extracting date-time information from natural language and structured displays. The date-time parser handles multiple formats including "MM/DD/YYYY", "YYYY-MM-DD", and named month formats like "January 15, 2024", then combines with time extraction. The countdown engine calculates hours until each appointment and updates in real-time with a 60-second refresh cycle, applying urgency classification based on configurable thresholds. Cancellation and reschedule detection uses keyword matching on status fields and text content to flag changes.

THE PANEL

The configuration panel is fully draggable and remembers its position per-site using GM_setValue. It snaps to screen edges when dragged near them, collapses to a compact bubble when minimized, and supports Escape key for quick collapse. All settings—including badge visibility, countdown preferences, urgency coloring, notification timing, and auto-refresh interval—are persisted across sessions.

The script reads only publicly visible appointment data displayed on your dashboard and does not access hidden fields, passwords, or sensitive medical information. All extracted data and notification states are stored locally in your browser and never transmitted to external servers.
