About this app

WHAT IT DOES This script scans credit card and travel reward pages—The Points Guy, NerdWallet, AwardWallet, and others—for points and miles values, and displays a floating overlay showing the estimated value of points and miles based on current redemption options. It extracts point balances, redemption rates, and cash values from the page, calculates the total value, and shows a summary with color-coded indicators: green for good value, yellow for average, red for poor. A breakdown by redemption type (cash back, travel, gift cards, statement credit, merchandise) shows where the value comes from. A one-click export function saves value data as CSV or JSON. All value snapshots are stored per domain locally for tracking over time. WHERE IT RUNS Works on any credit card or travel reward page—The Points Guy, NerdWallet, AwardWallet, Chase, Amex, or any page displaying points balances, redemption rates, or cash values. The script detects points/miles data using common patterns and selectors, making it compatible with most rewards and valuation sites. HOW TO USE The panel appears automatically when you visit a rewards or valuation page. It detects point/miles balances, redemption rates, and cash values, then displays a total value card with a color-coded status badge. The program name and card name are shown when available. A summary grid shows points, miles, and redemption rate. The redemption breakdown section shows values by redemption type. Click "Refresh Data" to rescan for updated information. Export value data as CSV for spreadsheet analysis or as JSON for programmatic use. Use "Clear History" to reset stored snapshots for the current domain. The panel automatically saves a snapshot each time you visit, building a history of your points and miles valuation. TECHNICAL MECHANISM: POINTS AND MILES DATA EXTRACTION WITH VALUE CALCULATION AND COLOR-CODING The script uses a comprehensive detection strategy. It scans the page text for point balances using patterns like "[number] points" and "Points: [number]," miles balances using patterns like "[number] miles" and "Miles: [number]," cash values using patterns like "$[amount] cash value" and "Value: $[amount]," redemption rates using patterns like "[number] cents per point" and "[number]¢/point," and program/card names from patterns like "Program: [name]" and "Card: [name]." It also scans elements with points-related class names (.points, .miles, .rewards, .balance, .value) to find additional data. Breakdowns by redemption type are extracted from patterns like "Cash back: $[amount]" and "Travel: $[amount]." The total value is calculated from cash value if available, or from points × redemption rate, or estimated at 1 cent per point as a fallback. Value color-coding uses thresholds based on cents-per-point: ≥1.2¢ = excellent (green), ≥0.9¢ = good (light green), ≥0.7¢ = average (yellow),
