Redfin Listing Price Cut History Badge

WHAT IT DOES

This userscript adds price cut visibility to your Redfin property search results. It reads listing data from the page—including original listing price, current price, and price change history—then calculates the total price reduction percentage and number of cuts for each property. A color-coded badge appears on every listing: green for no price cuts, yellow for 1-5% reduction, orange for 5-15% reduction, and red for >15% reduction. Each badge shows the total reduction percentage and the number of price cuts. When enabled, the badge also displays the full price history as a sequence of prices (e.g., "$500K → $475K → $450K"). A summary panel shows average price reduction, total listings, and the listing with the most cuts. A one-click button opens the full price history page. This is invaluable for home buyers, real estate investors, and market analysts who need to identify price reductions, find motivated sellers, and spot negotiation opportunities.

WHERE IT RUNS

The script runs on all Redfin web application pages at *.redfin.com/*, with automatic detection of search results pages, property listings, and any page displaying real estate listing information. It works across all Redfin interfaces by using multiple selector strategies to find listing cards, prices, address information, and price history data. The script detects dynamic content loading and re-applies price cut badges when the search results update. It runs across the entire Redfin domain, ensuring coverage whether you're viewing a list of search results, a saved search, or a specific property's detail page.

HOW TO USE

Install the script via the BotGentz extension and navigate to any Redfin search results or property listing page. Price cut badges will appear automatically on every listing. Each badge shows the reduction percentage and number of cuts, with a color-coded background indicating the severity. When price history is enabled, the badge also shows the full price sequence. The summary panel shows average price reduction, total listings, and the listing with the most cuts. Click the ↗ button next to any listing to open its full price history page in a new tab. Use the panel controls to customize your experience: toggle price cut badges on or off, show or hide the summary panel, enable or disable price history details, or adjust the color threshold percentages for each category. The "Refresh" button manually rescans the page for updated data.

THE MECHANISM - PRICE EXTRACTION, REDUCTION CALCULATION, AND HISTORY SUMMARIZATION

This script identifies listing data by scanning each property card using a cascading selector strategy. It extracts the current price from price elements, the original price from original price or price history elements, and the price history by scanning price history items or change entries. When price history is available, the original price is extracted from the first entry, and the number of cuts is counted from subsequent price changes. The total reduction is calculated as (original - current) / original × 100. The badge is created as a DOM element with inline styles and inserted into the listing card. The price history sequence is displayed as a compact string of prices separated by arrows. The summary panel aggregates data across all visible listings and calculates average reduction and identifies the listing with the most cuts.

THE PANEL

The control panel appears as a floating, draggable element that you can position anywhere on the Redfin page. Drag by the header to reposition it, and the position is saved per site using GM_setValue so it stays where you left it across sessions. Release the panel near any edge and it snaps into place, keeping your workspace organized. Click the panel header to collapse it into a small bubble showing only the chart emoji (📊), minimizing distraction while keeping controls accessible. Drag from the bubble to restore the full panel. The panel automatically resizes to fit its content and includes all setting toggles, threshold controls, action buttons, and a legend. Press the Escape key to quickly collapse the panel to its minimized state. The panel remains visible across page navigation within Redfin, with price cut badges updating automatically as you move between search results.

This script requires the free BotGentz extension to function. It is designed for Redfin users who need to identify price reductions and negotiate better deals. The script reads only visible listing data from the DOM—it does not access Redfin's API, your account credentials, or any sensitive information. All settings (badge visibility, summary toggle, history toggle, threshold values, and panel position) are stored locally using GM_setValue and never leave your browser. The script does not modify your Redfin data—it only reads and visualizes visible price information. Price reduction calculations depend on the availability of original price data; if original price is not available, the listing will show "No cuts" by default. If Redfin updates its website structure, the script may need to be updated to match new selectors. The price history sequence is displayed from the price history entries found on the page; if the page only shows the latest price, the history may be limited.
