About this app

WHAT IT DOES

Scribd Web Reading Streak Badge reads reading streak and activity data from your Scribd account and displays a floating reading streak badge showing your current streak days, total reading time, and recently read items. The badge shows the streak count with a fire icon, reading time in hours and minutes, and recent titles. A label indicates your current day streak. The extension tracks streak history per month, storing each streak and reading time record with a timestamp. When you reach milestone streak days (3, 7, 14, 30, 60, 100, or 365), a desktop notification is triggered. The panel displays your current month's streak history and changes over time.

WHERE IT RUNS

This extension works on all Scribd pages at scribd.com and its subdomains, specifically on account pages where reading activity and streak data are displayed. It runs on the main account page, the reading activity page, the profile page, and any page displaying reading information. The extension operates entirely within your browser and does not access Scribd's servers directly—it reads only what is visible on the page you are viewing. It works alongside the free BotGentz extension, which provides the necessary scripting environment.

HOW TO USE

Install the extension, then navigate to scribd.com and log in to your account. The extension automatically creates a floating reading streak badge on the page. Click the extension's icon in your browser toolbar to open the settings panel. Use the "Show Overlay" / "Hide Overlay" button to toggle the badge visibility. The badge shows your streak days, reading time, and recent items. Use the "Refresh" button to manually update the badge with the latest reading information. The "Show reading time" toggle controls whether reading time appears. The "Streak milestone notifications" toggle controls desktop notifications for streak milestones. Adjust the overlay transparency using the opacity dropdown (70%, 82%, 92%, or 100%). Drag the badge by clicking and holding anywhere inside it. Resize it by dragging the bottom-right corner. Close the badge with the × button.

READING STREAK EXTRACTION WITH HISTORY TRACKING AND MILESTONE NOTIFICATION

Unlike simple streak display tools, this extension uses a multi-selector extraction engine to find streak days, reading time, and recent items from Scribd's varying page structures. It searches for streak days using multiple selector patterns (.reading-streak, .streak-days, .streak-count) and falls back to text parsing with number extraction. Reading time is extracted from time selectors, supporting both minutes and hours formats, and normalized for consistent display. Recent items are extracted from recent item selectors, capturing titles for display. Monthly streak history is stored as a key-value object where keys are year-month strings and values are arrays of streak records with timestamps, limited to 20 entries per month. Milestone notifications trigger at specific streak day counts (3, 7, 14, 30, 60, 100, 365), with a once-per-day cooldown per milestone.

THE PANEL

The panel supports drag-to-move anywhere on the page. It remembers its position per site, so it stays where you placed it on scribd.com. Click the panel header to collapse it down to just the minimized bubble, or click the expand handle to show the full panel. The panel can be resized by dragging the bottom-right corner. Press the Escape key to close the expanded panel and return to the minimized state. All panel settings, including position, size, collapsed state, opacity, reading time visibility, notification preference, and monthly streak history, are saved per site and persist across browsing sessions.

PLEASE NOTE

This extension requires the free BotGentz extension to be installed and active, as it provides the underlying DOM injection and script execution environment. Scribd's website changes periodically, and reading element structures, class names, and page layouts may be updated. When that happens, the extension may stop detecting streak data until an update is released. The extension stores your overlay position, size, opacity, visibility, reading time preference, notification preference, and monthly streak history locally in your browser's storage using GM_setValue. Streak history is stored as a key-value object where keys are year-month strings and values are arrays of streak records. The streak data displayed is read from the page—the extension does not access Scribd's internal reading data. Always verify with Scribd directly for the most accurate reading streak information. No data is ever sent to any server, and no personal information is collected. You can clear all stored settings at any time by clearing your browser data for scribd.com.
