About this app
WHAT IT DOES
Slack Web Emoji Reaction Leaderboard automatically scans Slack channel and message pages to extract comprehensive emoji reaction data including emoji type, reaction count, message content, and user reactions. The tool compiles reactions into a leaderboard showing the most used emojis, most reacted messages, and top reactors. A floating overlay panel displays a summary of emoji reaction activity with color-coded indicators—top emojis are highlighted with a trophy badge, and top reactors are shown with medal emojis. The panel includes a "Top Emojis" section showing the most frequently used emojis with reaction counts, a "Top Reactors" section showing users who have given the most reactions, a "Hot Messages" section showing messages with the most reactions, and a "Summary" section with unique emoji count, top emoji, and reactor count. This provides a complete, organized view of emoji reaction activity in your Slack channel.
WHERE IT RUNS
This extension operates exclusively on slack.com domain pages that contain channel and message content—specifically pages with "/archives", "/messages", or "/thread" in the URL path, or pages that display message lists and reactions. It works alongside the free BotGentz companion extension, which provides the necessary DOM access and page interaction capabilities. The emoji reaction leaderboard runs entirely within your local browser instance and does not communicate with any external servers or APIs. All reaction data extraction, leaderboard compilation, and preference storage are processed and stored on your machine, ensuring your Slack data and tracking preferences remain private. It supports all modern Chromium-based browsers (Chrome, Edge, Brave, Opera) and Firefox when paired with the BotGentz bridge.
HOW TO USE
After installing both BotGentz and this reaction leaderboard, navigate to any Slack channel or message page. Within 1-2 seconds, a panel appears in the bottom-right corner displaying the "Top Emojis" section with the most used emojis and reaction counts. The "Top Reactors" section shows users who have given the most reactions. The "Hot Messages" section displays messages with the most reactions. The "Summary" section shows unique emoji count, top emoji, and reactor count. The panel provides a complete, organized view of emoji reaction activity and helps you understand channel engagement.
EMOJI REACTION DATA EXTRACTION AND LEADERBOARD COMPILATION
The reaction leaderboard uses a multi-strategy extraction system to locate and parse emoji reaction data from Slack pages. It first attempts to find structured message and reaction elements using selectors based on the site's typical class naming patterns, including message containers, reaction indicators, and user elements. When these selectors fail due to site updates, the tool falls back to text-based parsing, scanning the page for emoji patterns using pattern matching for emoji codes (e.g., :emoji:) and Unicode emoji characters. Emoji types are extracted through pattern matching for emoji codes or Unicode characters. Reaction counts are extracted through pattern matching for numeric values with "reactions" labels or count indicators. Message content is extracted from message body elements or through pattern matching. User reactions are inferred from sender names and message content. The tool compiles emoji usage counts, user reaction counts, and reacted messages into leaderboards sorted by frequency. Top emojis, top reactors, and hottest messages are displayed with appropriate indicators. All data is presented in a clean, organized panel with color-coded indicators.
THE PANEL
The reaction leaderboard panel is a compact, functional overlay that integrates into the Slack channel page. It can be dragged by clicking and holding the title bar, positioning the panel anywhere on the screen for optimal visibility while you view reactions. The panel includes a built-in snap feature that automatically aligns to the nearest screen edge when released within 48 pixels, keeping your workspace organized. Click the collapse arrow in the top-right corner to minimize the panel to a small icon bubble showing a gear emoji, preserving screen space while keeping the tool accessible. The panel is not resizable in this version, maintaining a consistent compact size that works on all screen resolutions. Press the Escape key to instantly hide the panel; press Escape again to restore it. All position, collapse state, and leaderboard tracking preferences are saved locally using GM_setValue and persist across browsing sessions.
PLEASE NOTE
This extension requires the free BotGentz extension to function—the reaction leaderboard does not work standalone. Slack occasionally updates its page layouts and message presentation formats, which may temporarily affect reaction data extraction accuracy. The tool extracts reaction data from the visible page content; if messages are loaded dynamically after page load (e.g., infinite scroll), you may need to scroll to load more messages for the panel to see them. User reaction tracking is inferred from message content and may not capture all reactions with perfect accuracy. The tool does not store or transmit any data; all reaction data extraction, leaderboard compilation, and settings are processed and saved entirely within your browser. This tool is designed for personal Slack engagement tracking and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Slack or its parent company. Slack reaction data is subject to Slack's terms; always review your official Slack account for authoritative message and reaction information.
