WHAT IT DOES

Social Security Web Benefit Estimate Overlay reads your Social Security benefit estimates and retirement details from your SSA account and displays a floating benefit estimate overlay showing your estimated monthly benefits at various ages. The badge shows your current estimated monthly benefit, full retirement age, and a breakdown of benefits at age 62, full retirement age, and age 70. The extension tracks benefit estimate changes over time, storing each estimate change with a timestamp. When your benefit estimate changes, a desktop notification is triggered. The panel displays your current benefit estimate, full retirement age, benefit history, and earnings record.

WHERE IT RUNS

This extension works on all Social Security Administration pages at ssa.gov and its subdomains, specifically on account pages where benefit estimates and retirement details are displayed. It runs on the main account page, the benefit estimate page, the retirement dashboard, and any page displaying benefit information. The extension operates entirely within your browser and does not access SSA servers directly—it reads only what is visible on the page you are viewing. It works alongside the free BotGentz extension, which provides the necessary scripting environment.

HOW TO USE

Install the extension, then navigate to ssa.gov and log in to your account. The extension automatically creates a floating benefit estimate overlay on the page. Click the extension's icon in your browser toolbar to open the settings panel. Use the "Show Overlay" / "Hide Overlay" button to toggle the badge visibility. The badge shows your benefit estimate, full retirement age, and breakdown details. Use the "Refresh" button to manually update the badge with the latest benefit information. The "Show breakdown details" toggle controls whether benefit breakdowns appear. The "Estimate change notifications" toggle controls desktop notifications when your benefit estimate changes. Adjust the overlay transparency using the opacity dropdown (70%, 82%, 92%, or 100%). Drag the badge by clicking and holding anywhere inside it. Resize it by dragging the bottom-right corner. Close the badge with the × button.

BENEFIT ESTIMATE EXTRACTION WITH BREAKDOWN AND HISTORY TRACKING

Unlike simple benefit display tools, this extension uses a multi-selector extraction engine to find benefit estimates, full retirement age, and earnings details from the SSA's varying page structures. It searches for monthly benefit using multiple selector patterns (.benefit-amount, .monthly-benefit, .estimate-amount) and falls back to text parsing with number extraction. Full retirement age is extracted from FRA selectors using number parsing. Benefit breakdowns at different ages (62, FRA, 70) are extracted from estimate tables or text using pattern matching for age:amount pairs. Earnings records and work credits are extracted from their respective selectors. Benefit history is stored as an array of records with benefit amount, full retirement age, and timestamp, limited to 20 entries. Estimate change notifications trigger when the benefit amount changes, with a once-per-day cooldown.

THE PANEL

The panel supports drag-to-move anywhere on the page. It remembers its position per site, so it stays where you placed it on ssa.gov. Click the panel header to collapse it down to just the minimized bubble, or click the expand handle to show the full panel. The panel can be resized by dragging the bottom-right corner. Press the Escape key to close the expanded panel and return to the minimized state. All panel settings, including position, size, collapsed state, opacity, breakdown visibility, notification preference, and benefit history, are saved per site and persist across browsing sessions.

PLEASE NOTE

This extension requires the free BotGentz extension to be installed and active, as it provides the underlying DOM injection and script execution environment. The SSA website changes periodically, and benefit element structures, class names, and page layouts may be updated. When that happens, the extension may stop detecting benefit data until an update is released. The extension stores your overlay position, size, opacity, visibility, breakdown preference, notification preference, and benefit history locally in your browser's storage using GM_setValue. Benefit history is stored as an array of records with benefit amount, full retirement age, and timestamp. The benefit estimates displayed are read from the page—the extension does not access SSA internal data. Always verify with the SSA directly for the most accurate benefit information. No data is ever sent to any server, and no personal information is collected. You can clear all stored settings at any time by clearing your browser data for ssa.gov.
