About this app

WHAT IT DOES This userscript adds estimate visibility to your Sotheby's auction browsing experience. It reads lot data from the page—extracting low and high estimate values, current bid prices, and lot titles—and displays a color-coded estimate badge on every lot. The color system uses a four-tier gradient: green for bids exceeding or meeting the estimate, yellow for bids within 50-100% of the estimate, orange for bids within 25-50% of the estimate, and red for bids below 25% of the estimate. Each badge shows the estimate range and the current bid price with a percentage comparison. Lots exceeding their estimate are highlighted with a green left border. A summary panel shows the average estimate, the lot with the highest estimate, and the number of lots exceeding their estimate. Each lot includes a one-click ↗ button to open the details page. This is invaluable for art collectors, investors, and auction watchers who need to compare estimates against current bids, identify undervalued lots, and make informed bidding decisions. WHERE IT RUNS The script runs on all Sotheby's web application pages at *.sothebys.com/*, with automatic detection of auction lot pages, catalog pages, and any page displaying lot information. It works across all Sotheby's interfaces by using multiple selector strategies to find lot items, estimates, current bids, and titles. The script detects dynamic content loading and re-applies estimate badges when the lot list updates. It runs across the entire Sotheby's domain, ensuring coverage whether you're viewing an auction catalog, a specific lot page, or a filtered collection view. HOW TO USE Install the script via the BotGentz extension and navigate to any Sotheby's auction lot list or catalog page. Estimate badges will appear automatically on every lot. Each badge shows the estimate range and current bid with a percentage comparison, with a color-coded background indicating how the bid compares to the estimate. Lots exceeding their estimate are highlighted with a green left border. The summary panel shows average estimate, the highest estimate lot, and the number of lots exceeding their estimate. Click the ↗ button next to any lot to open its details page in a new tab. Use the panel controls to customize your experience: toggle estimate badges on or off, show or hide the estimate range, enable or disable the bid vs estimate comparison, show or hide the summary panel, or highlight lots exceeding estimate. The "Refresh" button manually rescans the page for updated lot data, and the "Copy summary" button exports the estimate summary to your clipboard. THE MECHANISM - DATA EXTRACTION, ESTIMATE CALCULATION, AND VISUAL COMPARISON This script identifies lot data by scanning each lot item using a cascading selector strategy. It extracts low and high estimates from estimate elements, current bid prices from bid elements, and lot titles from title elements. The mid-estimate is calculated as the average of the low and high estimates. The percentage of estimate reached is calculated as (current bid / mid-estimate) × 100. The color category is determined by this percentage: exceeding/at estimate (≥100%), near estimate (50-99%), below estimate (25-49%), and well below (
