About this app

WHAT IT DOES

This tool enables you to swap tokens on Aerodrome DEX, the leading decentralized exchange on Base Network. It reads your token balance on Base Network, the Aerodrome router contract details, and the current gas price to provide an accurate cost estimate before you commit. The tool then checks your allowance for the Aerodrome router, handles approval automatically if needed, and constructs and submits a swap transaction to exchange a specified amount of one token for another, with slippage tolerance and deadline protection.

Aerodrome DEX is a next-generation automated market maker (AMM) built on Base Network, designed to be the central liquidity hub for the Base ecosystem. It offers efficient token swaps, low fees, and deep liquidity through its veAERO governance model. The tool integrates with Aerodrome's router to provide a seamless swapping experience, supporting any ERC-20 token pair that has a liquidity pool on Aerodrome.

HOW TO USE

Connect your wallet using the "connect" button. Ensure you are connected to Base Network (chain ID 8453) — the tool will display your current chain ID and token balance once you enter a token address. Enter the source token address, destination token address, and the amount you wish to swap. The tool will automatically fetch a quote from the Aerodrome router showing the estimated output, the minimum output with slippage protection, and the estimated gas cost.

Adjust the slippage tolerance (default 0.5%) to protect against price changes during transaction confirmation — higher slippage increases the chance of success but may result in a worse price, while lower slippage provides better price protection but may cause the transaction to fail if the market moves. Review the swap summary, then click "swap via Aerodrome" to execute the swap. The tool will automatically approve the token spending if needed, then submit the swap transaction through your wallet.

TECHNICAL MECHANISM — AERODROME ROUTER SWAP

The tool interacts with the Aerodrome router contract, which implements the swapExactTokensForTokens() function. This function takes the exact input amount, the minimum output amount (derived from your slippage setting), the token path (source → destination), the recipient address, and a deadline. Before calling the swap, the tool checks the user's allowance for the Aerodrome router using the ERC-20 allowance() function. If the allowance is insufficient, the tool submits an approve() transaction to the token contract, granting the router permission to spend the specified amount.

Once approval is confirmed, the tool proceeds with the swap. The Aerodrome router uses the factory contract to find the best liquidity pool for the token pair and executes the swap according to the constant product formula (x * y = k). The router handles complex multi-hop swaps automatically if no direct pool exists, finding the most efficient route through multiple pools to achieve the best possible price. The swap transaction includes a deadline to prevent it from being executed if it remains pending for too long. After the transaction is mined, the tool displays the exact amounts swapped and received, along with the transaction details.

WHAT IT CANNOT SEE

This tool cannot estimate exact gas costs without a live RPC call, and gas prices on Base Network may change between quoting and execution. It cannot guarantee price stability across block times — the actual price you receive may differ from the quote if the market moves before your transaction is mined. The tool cannot verify the router or token contract addresses are correct beyond what you provide, and if you enter an incorrect address, the transaction could fail or be sent to the wrong contract. It cannot cancel a transaction once submitted, and if the transaction fails due to slippage, gas issues, or contract errors, you may still pay gas fees. The tool cannot handle swaps on non-Base chains or with tokens not supported by Aerodrome liquidity pools. It also cannot automatically select the optimal token path for you — you must specify the correct token addresses.

PLEASE NOTE — BASE NETWORK ONLY

This tool works exclusively on Base Network (chain ID 8453) and Base Sepolia (chain ID 84532). You must be connected to Base Network to use this tool. It does not support other networks such as Ethereum Mainnet, Polygon, or Arbitrum. The tool swaps ERC-20 tokens using Aerodrome DEX — always verify that the token addresses you enter are correct for Base Network. Using token addresses from other networks will result in transaction failure. Aerodrome is the leading DEX on Base, but not all tokens may have sufficient liquidity for large swaps. Always check that your source token has allowance for the Aerodrome router, and that the destination token address is correct on Base Network.
