WHAT IT DOES

TaskRabbit Task Age Highlighter transforms your task browsing experience by visually indicating how long each task has been posted. The script scans task listing pages, extracts posted timestamps from each task card, calculates the age in hours and days, then applies an intuitive color-coding system: fresh tasks (under 6 hours) appear with green badges and borders, recent tasks (6-24 hours) show yellow, old tasks (24-72 hours) display orange, and stale tasks (over 72 hours) are marked in red. Each task card receives a prominently displayed age badge showing both the age category and the exact time since posting, allowing you to instantly identify urgent opportunities and avoid chasing tasks that may already be filled.

This script operates on all TaskRabbit task listing pages, including the browse view, search results, category pages, and dashboard task feeds. It works seamlessly with TaskRabbit's dynamic content loading, automatically detecting when new tasks are loaded via infinite scroll or pagination and applying highlights to newly visible cards without requiring page refreshes.

HOW TO USE

After installing through the BotGentz extension, simply browse TaskRabbit as you normally would. The script automatically scans task cards and applies color coding and age badges. Use the configuration panel to customize your experience: enable or disable highlighting, toggle age badges on or off, and configure age thresholds for each color category. The filtering feature lets you show or hide tasks by age group—for example, hiding stale tasks to focus only on fresh opportunities. The panel also displays real-time statistics showing how many tasks of each age category are currently visible on the page.

ADAPTIVE TIME PARSING ENGINE

This script implements a multi-layered time extraction system that handles TaskRabbit's varied time display formats. It first attempts to parse natural language relative times such as "2 hours ago" or "3 days ago" using regex pattern matching, then falls back to absolute date parsing for formats like "12/15/2024" or ISO dates. The engine also checks for data attributes and meta tags that may contain timestamp data in machine-readable formats. This layered approach ensures reliable age detection even as TaskRabbit updates their UI. The script applies a cascading selector strategy—trying the most specific task card selectors first, then falling back to broader card-like elements when needed, ensuring it works across all TaskRabbit page variations.

THE PANEL

The configuration panel is fully draggable and remembers its position per-site using GM_setValue. It snaps to screen edges when dragged near them, collapses to a compact bubble when minimized, and supports Escape key for quick collapse. All settings—including highlight preferences, badge visibility, filter states, and auto-refresh interval—are persisted across sessions.
