About this app

WHAT IT DOES

This userscript adds comprehensive status tracking to your Toptal freelancer application dashboard. It reads application entries from the page—extracting stage (applied, screening, skills test, interview, offer, accepted, rejected), submission date, and last activity date—and displays a color-coded status badge on every application. The color system uses: green for active/offer/accepted, yellow for pending/interview, orange for screening, red for rejected, and gray for inactive. Each badge shows the current stage and days since last update. A stage timeline indicator shows progress through the application pipeline with visual markers. A summary panel shows total applications, pending count, applications by stage, and average time in stage. Each application includes a one-click ↗ button to open the details page. This is invaluable for freelancers, job seekers, and career managers who need to track application progress, identify bottlenecks, and stay on top of follow-up timing.

WHERE IT RUNS

The script runs on all Toptal web application pages at *.toptal.com/*, with automatic detection of application dashboards, status pages, and any page displaying freelancer application entries. It works across all Toptal interfaces by using multiple selector strategies to find application items, stages, dates, and links. The script detects dynamic content loading and re-applies status badges when the application list updates. It runs across the entire Toptal domain, ensuring coverage whether you're viewing your main application dashboard, a specific application status page, or a filtered view.

HOW TO USE

Install the script via the BotGentz extension and navigate to your Toptal application dashboard or status page. Status badges will appear automatically on every application entry. Each badge shows the stage and days since last update with a color-coded background. The stage timeline shows your progress through the application pipeline. The summary panel shows total applications, pending count, applications by stage, and average days in stage. Click the ↗ button next to any application to open its details page in a new tab. Use the panel controls to customize your experience: toggle status badges on or off, show or hide time since last update, enable or disable the summary panel, show or hide the stage timeline indicator, or toggle the pending applications count. The "Refresh" button manually rescans the page for updated application data, and the "Copy summary" button exports the status summary to your clipboard.

THE MECHANISM - DATA EXTRACTION, STAGE CATEGORIZATION, AND TIMELINE VISUALIZATION

This script identifies application data by scanning each application item using a cascading selector strategy. It extracts stages from status or stage elements, submission dates from date elements, and last activity dates from activity elements. Stage strings are normalized to standard values (applied, screening, skills test, interview, offer, accepted, rejected). Status categories are determined by stage: active (offer/accepted), pending (interview), screening (applied/screening/skills test), rejected, or inactive. Days since submission and last update are calculated by comparing the current time to the extracted dates. The stage timeline is rendered as a sequence of markers showing progress through the application pipeline. The badge is created as a DOM element with inline styles and inserted into the application title cell. The summary panel aggregates data and calculates stage distributions and average time.

THE PANEL

The control panel appears as a floating, draggable element that you can position anywhere on the Toptal page. Drag by the header to reposition it, and the position is saved per site using GM_setValue so it stays where you left it across sessions. Release the panel near any edge and it snaps into place, keeping your workspace organized. Click the panel header to collapse it into a small bubble showing only the chart emoji (📊), minimizing distraction while keeping controls accessible. Drag from the bubble to restore the full panel. The panel automatically resizes to fit its content and includes all setting toggles, action buttons, and a status legend. Press the Escape key to quickly collapse the panel to its minimized state. The panel remains visible across page navigation within Toptal, with status badges updating automatically as you move between application views.

PLEASE NOTE

This script requires the free BotGentz extension to function. It is designed for Toptal freelancers and applicants who need to track application status and progress. The script reads only visible application data from the DOM—it does not access Toptal's API, your account credentials, or any sensitive information. All settings (badge visibility, last update toggle, summary toggle, timeline toggle, pending count toggle, and panel position) are stored locally using GM_setValue and never leave your browser. The script does not modify your Toptal data—it only enhances the visual presentation of the application list. Stage detection depends on the text displayed on the page; if stage labels change, the script may need to be updated to match new patterns. If Toptal updates its website structure, the script may need to be updated to match new selectors. The timeline indicator shows markers for all stages; stages that have not been reached are shown as lighter markers.
