Wefunder Web Update Digest automatically scans Wefunder update pages and extracts comprehensive startup update content including update title, company name, update date, update type (Milestone, Financial, Product, Team, Growth, General), and key metrics mentioned (revenue, user counts, funding amounts, percentages, etc.). The tool compiles all updates into a chronological digest panel with categorized, color-coded indicators for each update type—green for Milestone, yellow for Financial, blue for Product, purple for Team, pink for Growth, and gray for General. High-significance updates are marked with a star (⭐) and highlighted, making it easy to spot the most important news. You can filter updates by type using clickable filter tags, and your preferences are saved across sessions. A summary shows total updates, high-impact updates, and unique companies. This provides a complete, organized view of all startup progress updates in your portfolio.

WHERE IT RUNS

This extension operates exclusively on wefunder.com domain pages that contain update content—specifically pages with "/updates", "/update", or "/portfolio" in the URL path, or pages that display startup updates and progress feeds. It works alongside the free BotGentz companion extension, which provides the necessary DOM access and page interaction capabilities. The update digest runs entirely within your local browser instance and does not communicate with any external servers or APIs. All update data extraction, type classification, and filter preferences are processed and stored on your machine, ensuring your portfolio tracking and reading preferences remain private. It supports all modern Chromium-based browsers (Chrome, Edge, Brave, Opera) and Firefox when paired with the BotGentz bridge.

HOW TO USE

After installing both BotGentz and this update digest, navigate to any Wefunder updates or portfolio page. Within 1-2 seconds, a panel appears in the bottom-right corner displaying a summary with total updates, high-impact updates, and unique companies. The "Updates" section lists all updates chronologically with high-significance updates shown first, each with its title, type badge, company name, date, and key metrics when available. Updates are color-coded by type for quick identification. The "Filters" section lets you click on type tags to show or hide specific update types—your preferences are saved automatically. The panel provides a complete, organized view of all startup progress updates.

UPDATE DATA EXTRACTION AND TYPE CLASSIFICATION

The update digest uses a multi-strategy extraction system to locate and parse startup update data from Wefunder pages. It first attempts to find structured update elements using selectors based on the site's typical class naming patterns, including "update-item," "update-card," "feed-item," and "post-item." When these selectors fail due to site updates, the tool falls back to scanning page content for update-like text patterns, looking for elements that contain update keywords and company names. Each update is categorized using a comprehensive keyword mapping system: "milestone," "launch," "release," "achievement," "anniversary," or "completed" maps to Milestone; "financial," "revenue," "profit," "funding," "raise," "burn rate," "cash," "valuation," or "earnings" to Financial; "product," "feature," "update," "release," "new," "improvement," "development," or "beta" to Product; "team," "hire," "join," "welcome," "promotion," "growth," or "new member" to Team; and "growth," "user," "customer," "signup," "traction," "market," or "expansion" to Growth. Key metrics are extracted through pattern matching for dollar amounts with K/M suffixes, percentages, and numeric counts with relevant keywords. Significance is determined by update type (Financial and Milestone are high-significance) and metric count (updates with 2+ metrics are high-significance).

THE PANEL

The update digest panel is a compact, functional overlay that integrates into the Wefunder updates page. It can be dragged by clicking and holding the title bar, positioning the panel anywhere on the screen for optimal visibility while you review startup updates. The panel includes a built-in snap feature that automatically aligns to the nearest screen edge when released within 48 pixels, keeping your workspace organized. Click the collapse arrow in the top-right corner to minimize the panel to a small icon bubble showing a gear emoji, preserving screen space while keeping the tool accessible. The panel is not resizable in this version, maintaining a consistent compact size that works on all screen resolutions. Press the Escape key to instantly hide the panel; press Escape again to restore it. All position, collapse state, and filter preferences are saved locally using GM_setValue and persist across browsing sessions.

PLEASE NOTE

This extension requires the free BotGentz extension to function—the update digest does not work standalone. Wefunder occasionally updates its page layouts and update presentation formats, which may temporarily affect data extraction accuracy. The tool extracts update data from the visible page content; if updates are loaded dynamically after page load, you may need to wait a moment or refresh the page for the panel to populate. Significance flags are based on keyword matching and metric presence and are provided as a reference—always read the full update content for complete information. The tool does not store or transmit any data; all update data extraction, type classification, filter preferences, and settings are processed and saved entirely within your browser.
