WHAT IT DOES

American Airlines Web Upgrade List Position Badge reads your upgrade list position and status from American Airlines flight pages and displays a floating upgrade list position badge showing your current position and total waitlist count. The badge shows your position number with color coding—green for position 1, yellow for positions 2-5, and red for positions 6+. A waitlist count shows the total number of passengers on the list, and an upgrade likelihood indicator shows your estimated chance (high, medium, or low) based on your position and available upgrades. The extension tracks position changes over time, storing each position update with a timestamp. When your position changes, a desktop notification is triggered. The panel displays your current position, waitlist total, likelihood, and flight number.

WHERE IT RUNS

This extension works on all American Airlines pages at aa.com and its subdomains, specifically on flight status and upgrade list pages. It runs on the flight status page, the upgrade list page, the check-in page, and any page displaying upgrade list information. The extension operates entirely within your browser and does not access American Airlines' servers directly—it reads only what is visible on the page you are viewing. It works alongside the free BotGentz extension, which provides the necessary scripting environment.

HOW TO USE

Install the extension, then navigate to aa.com and open a flight page with upgrade list information. The extension automatically creates a floating upgrade list position badge on the page. Click the extension's icon in your browser toolbar to open the settings panel. Use the "Show Overlay" / "Hide Overlay" button to toggle the badge visibility. The badge shows your position, waitlist count, and upgrade likelihood. Use the "Refresh" button to manually update the badge with the latest position information. The "Show upgrade likelihood" toggle controls whether the likelihood indicator appears. The "Position change notifications" toggle controls desktop notifications when your position changes. Adjust the overlay transparency using the opacity dropdown (70%, 82%, 92%, or 100%). Drag the badge by clicking and holding anywhere inside it. Resize it by dragging the bottom-right corner. Close the badge with the × button.

UPGRADE LIST EXTRACTION WITH POSITION TRACKING AND LIKELIHOOD CALCULATION

Unlike simple position display tools, this extension uses a multi-selector extraction engine to find upgrade list position, waitlist count, and upgrade availability from American Airlines' varying page structures. It searches for position using multiple selector patterns (.upgrade-position, .position-number, .list-position) and falls back to text parsing. Waitlist total is extracted from total count selectors. Upgrade availability is extracted from available upgrade selectors. Likelihood is calculated based on the position-to-total ratio and available upgrades—high if position is in the top 25% or within available upgrade count, medium if in the top 50%, and low otherwise. Per-flight position history is stored as a key-value object where keys are flight numbers and values are arrays of position records with timestamps, limited to 20 entries per flight. Position change notifications trigger when the position changes, with a one-hour cooldown.

THE PANEL

The panel supports drag-to-move anywhere on the page. It remembers its position per site, so it stays where you placed it on aa.com. Click the panel header to collapse it down to just the minimized bubble, or click the expand handle to show the full panel. The panel can be resized by dragging the bottom-right corner. Press the Escape key to close the expanded panel and return to the minimized state. All panel settings, including position, size, collapsed state, opacity, likelihood visibility, notification preference, and flight position history, are saved per site and persist across browsing sessions.

PLEASE NOTE

This extension requires the free BotGentz extension to be installed and active, as it provides the underlying DOM injection and script execution environment. American Airlines' website changes periodically, and upgrade list element structures, class names, and page layouts may be updated. When that happens, the extension may stop detecting position data until an update is released. The extension stores your overlay position, size, opacity, visibility, likelihood preference, notification preference, and per-flight position history locally in your browser's storage using GM_setValue. Position history is stored as a key-value object where keys are flight numbers and values are arrays of position records. The upgrade list position displayed is read from the page—the extension does not access American Airlines' internal upgrade data. Always verify with American Airlines directly for the most accurate upgrade list status. No data is ever sent to any server, and no personal information is collected. You can clear all stored settings at any time by clearing your browser data for aa.com.
