WHAT IT DOES
Approval Comparison to Industry Norm is your transaction sanity-check tool that compares pending token approvals against industry-standard norms. It automatically intercepts token approvals on DEX swap and NFT marketplace confirmation pages, then compares the requested approval amounts against established industry baselines for similar protocols. The tool displays clear comparison metrics showing whether the approval is Typical, Elevated, or Excessive relative to norms, flags unusually high approval requests that deviate significantly from standards, and provides normative context for approval decisions. It tracks approval patterns across protocols and generates simple visual indicators that help you quickly assess whether an approval request is reasonable.
WHERE IT RUNS
This script runs on all major DEX interfaces including Uniswap (app.uniswap.org), SushiSwap (app.sushi.com), Curve (curve.fi), Balancer (balancer.fi), 1inch (1inch.io), CowSwap (cow.fi), and major NFT marketplaces including OpenSea (opensea.io), Blur (blur.io), and LooksRare (looksrare.org). It works on transaction confirmation pages, wallet approval dialogs, and any page displaying pending approval details before signature.
HOW TO USE
Install the script through the BotGentz userscript manager. Click "Connect Wallet" to link your EVM wallet extension. Navigate to any supported DEX or marketplace and initiate a transaction with a token approval. When the confirmation dialog appears, the tool automatically intercepts the pending approval. The panel displays a comparison showing your approval amount against industry norms for the protocol, with visual indicators—Normal (green), Elevated (yellow), or Excessive (red). Review the comparison before signing. The tool also shows deviation percentage and a visual bar chart comparing your approval to typical, elevated, and excessive thresholds.
PROTOCOL-SPECIFIC APPROVAL NORM COMPARISON ENGINE WITH DEVIATION TRACKING
Unlike simple approval viewers that just show the amount, this tool implements a sophisticated norm comparison engine that benchmarks every approval against established industry baselines. The engine maintains a knowledge base of protocol-specific norms derived from observed patterns across major DEXs and marketplaces—Uniswap (0.5 ETH typical, 2.0 ETH elevated, 10.0 ETH excessive), OpenSea (0.2 ETH typical, 1.0 ETH elevated, 5.0 ETH excessive), and six other protocols with distinct baselines. Each pending approval is compared against the appropriate protocol's norm thresholds, generating a deviation percentage and a Normal/Elevated/Excessive classification. The engine tracks approval history across sessions, building a personal approval profile that can reveal patterns in your spending behavior. Unlimited approvals are automatically flagged as Excessive, providing an extra layer of security awareness for high-risk transaction types.
THE PANEL
The floating panel is fully draggable and snap-to-edge enabled. You can collapse it to a compact bubble when not in use, resize it to your preferred dimensions, and it remembers its position across page loads using persistent storage. Press Escape to quickly dismiss the panel. The panel displays the approval amount, protocol name, deviation percentage, visual classification badge, norm thresholds, and a comparison bar chart showing where your approval sits relative to typical, elevated, and excessive levels.
PLEASE NOTE
This script requires the free BotGentz extension to be installed in your browser—it does not run as a standalone extension. You also need a real EVM wallet extension already installed and configured for transaction interception. Industry norm data may become stale as protocols evolve and should be considered approximate guidance rather than definitive standards. Some protocols have legitimate reasons for higher-than-normal approvals. No user data is collected or transmitted—all approval history stays local in your browser storage. The tool provides analytical context for approval decisions but does not constitute transaction security advice or guarantee that all elevated approvals are unsafe.
