About this app
WHAT IT DOES
Asana Task Exporter scans Asana pages for task tables—list views, board views, timeline views, search views—and exports the visible task data to CSV format. It extracts column headers and row data including task names, assignees, due dates, projects, sections, tags, statuses, custom fields shown in the current view, subtask indicators, and completion status. The tool handles Asana's standard table structure, identifies dynamic content, and generates a clean, downloadable CSV file. You can choose to include headers, trim whitespace from cell content, and select your preferred delimiter (comma, semicolon, or any custom character).
WHERE IT RUNS
This tool runs as a userscript inside the BotGentz extension on any Asana domain (*.asana.com). All processing happens locally in your browser—no data is sent to external servers. It works on Asana's list views, board views, timeline views, search views, and custom task table views.
HOW TO USE
Navigate to any Asana page that contains a task list—a project list view, board view, timeline view, search results page, or custom view. Open the panel and click "Refresh Table List" to detect all task tables on the page. Select the table you want to export from the dropdown. Click "Export CSV" to download the file, or "Copy CSV" to copy the data directly to your clipboard. Use the settings to customize your export: toggle headers, trim whitespace, or change the delimiter. The tool will remember your preferences across sessions.
TECHNICAL MECHANISM
The tool uses a multi-selector approach to identify Asana task tables. It targets Asana-specific table attributes like data-testid="task-table" and task-table classes, along with common Asana table classes and role="grid" tables. It also detects tables containing task-related keywords in their text content (task, assignee, due date, project, section, tag, status, custom field). Once a table is found, the tool extracts headers from thead or th elements and rows from tbody or tr elements. It sanitizes cell content by removing hidden characters and special formatting that often appear in Asana tables, ensuring clean CSV output. The CSV generation escapes special characters, wraps fields in quotes when needed, and adds a UTF-8 BOM for Excel compatibility.
THE PANEL
The panel can be dragged anywhere on screen, snapped to the edge, resized, collapsed, and closed with Escape. It remembers its position per site and stays out of your way until you need it.
PLEASE NOTE
This tool requires the free BotGentz extension to run. It exports the current visible task list only; Asana loads tasks dynamically as you scroll, so not all tasks may be captured without scrolling. Asana's table structures vary across versions and custom configurations. Sites change frequently; if the tool stops working on a particular page, it may need updating. All processing is local—no data is collected or transmitted.
