Bandcamp Purchase Reminder Dismisser automatically detects and dismisses purchase reminder overlays, modals, and banners that appear on Bandcamp pages. These reminders often prompt users to buy digital albums, merchandise, or physical copies after listening to tracks or browsing artist pages. The tool identifies visible reminders using a multi-selector strategy, clicks close buttons or overlays to dismiss them, and maintains a persistent log of which artists and albums you have already dismissed. This prevents the same reminder from reappearing on subsequent visits while still allowing you to manually restore reminders when you actually want to make a purchase.

WHERE IT RUNS

This extension works exclusively on Bandcamp domains, including bandcamp.com, artist-specific subdomains (artist.bandcamp.com), and all page types including album pages, track pages, artist profiles, and the Bandcamp discover feed. It handles both the standard desktop interface and mobile-responsive views, continuing to function as Bandcamp loads content dynamically through its single-page application architecture.

HOW TO USE

Install the extension and navigate to any Bandcamp page. The overlay panel appears automatically. Toggle "Auto-dismiss reminders" to enable or disable automatic dismissal. When enabled, the extension automatically hides purchase reminders on each page load and navigation. Use the "Dismiss Current Reminders" button to manually hide all visible reminders on the current page. The extension remembers this action per album and artist, so reminders stay dismissed on future visits. Click "Show All Reminders" to restore hidden reminders for the current page. Use "Clear Dismiss Log" to reset all stored dismissal state across all artists and albums.

TECHNICAL SECTION — MULTI-STRATEGY REMINDER DETECTION AND STATE PERSISTENCE

Unlike simple overlay blockers that hide everything, this extension uses a comprehensive detection engine. It first queries a curated list of Bandcamp-specific selectors including .purchase-reminder, .buy-now-reminder, .purchase-overlay, and .reminder-modal. It then scans for visible modal dialogs, overlay backgrounds, and banner elements containing purchase-related keywords. The engine prioritizes interaction over brute hiding — it locates close/dismiss buttons within each reminder and triggers native click events, preserving Bandcamp's internal state. When no close button exists, it safely hides the element while storing its original display style for potential restoration. The persistence layer uses GM_setValue to store a timestamped log keyed by artist slug and album path. Log entries expire after a configurable retention period (default 30 days), ensuring reminders reappear after sufficient time in case the user's interest changes.

THE PANEL — DRAG / PER-SITE POSITION / SNAP / COLLAPSE / RESIZE / ESCAPE

The overlay panel is fully interactive and designed for seamless multitasking. Drag it anywhere on the screen using the handle at the top of the panel; the position is saved per site so it stays where you left it across sessions. The panel includes a snap-to-edge feature that gently anchors the overlay to the nearest screen edge when released. Click the collapse button to minimize the panel to a compact pill showing the number of visible reminders; expand it again with a single click. Resize the panel vertically by dragging the bottom-right corner to view more controls. Press the Escape key at any time to instantly close the overlay; it reappears on the next page navigation or refresh.

This extension requires the free BotGentz companion extension to function, as it provides the underlying content script injection and cross-origin communication framework. No personal data, browsing history, or Bandcamp activity is stored, transmitted, or shared. Dismissal logs are stored locally in your browser using GM_setValue and are never sent to any external server. The extension does not access or store login credentials, financial data, or personally identifiable information. Bandcamp may update its page structure and reminder mechanisms; the extension's detection patterns are designed to adapt to common variations, but major redesigns may temporarily affect functionality. The extension only modifies the visibility of purchase reminders and does not interfere with Bandcamp's purchasing, downloading, or streaming features.
