About this app
WHAT IT DOES
Burn Function Risk Explainer analyzes a token's burn function and explains the risks before you invest. The tool reads the token contract to detect burn functions, total supply, burned supply, burn events, and who can call the burn function. It then identifies concerning patterns — burn function callable by anyone, owner-only burn without restrictions, lack of burn cap, suspicious burn patterns, and high burn activity. The tool then uses AI to generate a plain-language explanation of the burn risks: whether the token has a burn function, who can burn tokens, how much has been burned, and whether the burn mechanism appears safe or suspicious. Results include a risk level, burn safety score (0-100), total supply, burned supply, burned percentage, burn function status, burn access level, burn events count, flags, and a comprehensive AI-generated explanation. The tool operates entirely read-only — no transactions are sent, no signatures are required. The AI assessment is designed to help you understand the deflationary mechanics and burn risks of a token before you invest.
HOW TO USE
Connect your EVM wallet using the "Connect" button in the header. Select the network where the token is deployed from the dropdown menu. Enter the token contract address you wish to analyze. Optionally enter the token name if you know it. Click "Analyze burn risk" to begin the analysis. The tool reads the token contract to detect burn functions, burned supply, burn events, and burn access, and sends the data to the AI for a plain-English burn risk explanation. Results appear within seconds, showing the token contract, chain, risk level, burn safety score, total supply, burned supply, burned percentage, burn function status, burn access level, burn events, flags, and a comprehensive AI-generated explanation written in clear, conversational language.
BURN RISK DETECTION AND SCORING
The tool uses a pattern-based approach to detect burn risk from the contract bytecode. It scans for burn-related functions (burn, burnFrom) and owner/admin functions (owner, admin). The total supply is read from the contract, and the burned supply is estimated from burn events or logs. The burn access level is determined based on the presence of owner-only restrictions: public burn (anyone can burn) is flagged as High risk, owner-only burn is Medium risk, and restricted burn with additional checks is Low risk. The burn safety score (0-100) starts at 50 and is adjusted based on: burn function (present: +0, not present: +10), public burn (-20), owner-only (+20), burned supply >10% (+10), burn events >5 (+5), High risk (-20), Medium risk (-10). The risk level is determined by: public burn function (High risk), owner-only burn (Medium risk), no burn function (Low risk). The AI receives all this data and is prompted to explain the burn risks in plain language — stating whether the token has a burn function, who can burn tokens, how much has been burned, and whether the burn mechanism appears safe or suspicious. The AI is also instructed to state plainly what it cannot verify — that it reads the burn function and burn history from the contract, not the burner's off-chain intent, future behavior, or the legitimacy of the contract.
WHAT IT CANNOT SEE
This tool cannot definitively determine if a burn function is safe — only reads the burn function and burn history. It cannot detect off-chain coordination or malicious intent not reflected in on-chain data — a burn function that appears safe could be used maliciously off-chain. The tool cannot predict future burn behavior — a token that has not been burned could be burned heavily in the future. Legitimate contracts may have burn functions for valid reasons — burn functions are a common deflationary mechanism. The tool cannot verify the identity or trustworthiness of the burner — it only reads the burner address. The tool cannot detect if the burn function has additional hidden restrictions. The tool cannot detect if the burned supply is accurately reported. The tool cannot predict the future deflation of the token. The tool cannot verify that the burn function is implemented correctly.
PLEASE NOTE
Burn Function Risk Explainer supports EVM-compatible chains only (Ethereum, BSC, Polygon, Arbitrum, Optimism, Avalanche, and others). The tool is read-only and never requests wallet signatures or transaction approvals. Burn risk assessments are AI-generated from on-chain data — always verify token burn mechanisms through block explorers, official documentation, and independent research before investing. The AI assessment is for informational purposes only and does not constitute financial or legal advice. A burn function that is public or owner-only carries different risk profiles — always consider who can burn tokens and how much has been burned before investing.
