About this app

WHAT IT DOES

Capital One Web Rewards Redemption Comparator reads your Capital One rewards points balance from your account page and displays a floating rewards redemption comparator showing the value of your points across different redemption categories. The badge shows your points balance, the best redemption category (Travel, Cash Back, Gift Cards, Statement Credit, or Merchandise), and the estimated dollar value. A comparison bar shows the value of each redemption option side-by-side, with the best value highlighted in green. The extension tracks rewards history per month, storing each balance change with a timestamp. The panel displays your current month's points history and changes over time, and lets you select preferred redemption categories to prioritize.

WHERE IT RUNS

This extension works on all Capital One pages at capitalone.com and its subdomains, specifically on account pages where rewards points balance is displayed. It runs on the main account page, the rewards dashboard, the credit card page, and any page displaying rewards information. The extension operates entirely within your browser and does not access Capital One's servers directly—it reads only what is visible on the page you are viewing. It works alongside the free BotGentz extension, which provides the necessary scripting environment.

HOW TO USE

Install the extension, then navigate to capitalone.com and log in to your account. The extension automatically creates a floating rewards redemption comparator badge on the page. Click the extension's icon in your browser toolbar to open the settings panel. Use the "Show Overlay" / "Hide Overlay" button to toggle the badge visibility. The badge shows your points, best redemption option, and value. Use the "Refresh" button to manually update the badge with the latest rewards information. Select preferred redemption categories using the toggles (Travel, Cash Back, Gift Cards, Statement Credit, Merchandise). Adjust the overlay transparency using the opacity dropdown (70%, 82%, 92%, or 100%). Drag the badge by clicking and holding anywhere inside it. Resize it by dragging the bottom-right corner. Close the badge with the × button.

POINTS EXTRACTION WITH REDEMPTION VALUE CALCULATION AND CATEGORY COMPARISON

Unlike simple balance display tools, this extension uses a multi-selector extraction engine to find points balance from Capital One's varying page structures. It searches for points balance using multiple selector patterns (.points-balance, .reward-points, .rewards-balance) and falls back to text parsing with number extraction. The redemption comparator uses a built-in database of Capital One redemption categories with estimated values per point (e.g., Cash Back and Travel at 1.0¢/pt, Gift Cards at 0.9¢/pt, Statement Credit at 0.8¢/pt, Merchandise at 0.7¢/pt). Users can select preferred categories, and the comparator calculates and displays the best value among selected categories. Monthly rewards history is stored as a key-value object where keys are year-month strings and values are arrays of points records with timestamps, limited to 20 entries per month.

THE PANEL

The panel supports drag-to-move anywhere on the page. It remembers its position per site, so it stays where you placed it on capitalone.com. Click the panel header to collapse it down to just the minimized bubble, or click the expand handle to show the full panel. The panel can be resized by dragging the bottom-right corner. Press the Escape key to close the expanded panel and return to the minimized state. All panel settings, including position, size, collapsed state, opacity, preferred categories, and monthly rewards history, are saved per site and persist across browsing sessions.

PLEASE NOTE

This extension requires the free BotGentz extension to be installed and active, as it provides the underlying DOM injection and script execution environment. Capital One's website changes periodically, and rewards element structures, class names, and page layouts may be updated. When that happens, the extension may stop detecting points data until an update is released. The extension stores your overlay position, size, opacity, visibility, preferred categories, and monthly rewards history locally in your browser's storage using GM_setValue. Rewards history is stored as a key-value object where keys are year-month strings and values are arrays of points records. The points balance displayed is read from the page—the extension does not access Capital One's internal rewards data. Redemption values are estimates and may not reflect current Capital One redemption rates. Always verify with Capital One directly for the most accurate rewards information. No data is ever sent to any server, and no personal information is collected. You can clear all stored settings at any time by clearing your browser data for capitalone.com.
