HOW TO USE

Select text on the page and click "Get Text" to extract it automatically, or paste content directly into the panel. Click "Rewrite to Formal" to send the content to the AI backend. Within moments, you'll receive a polished, professional version of your text. Use the "Copy Rewritten Text" button to paste it into your document, email, or application.

TECHNICAL OPERATION

Casual to Formal Language Rewriter employs a multi-strategy extraction pipeline that first checks for selected text, then attempts WebMCP (navigator.modelContext) when available—a W3C proposal for structured page content access—and falls back to full-page content extraction. The user's formality level selection, voice preservation preference, and explanatory notes setting are encoded as system-level instructions in the prompt sent to the AI. The text is truncated to 8000 characters and transmitted via GM_xmlhttpRequest to the AI backend. The AI, specifically prompted as a professional writing specialist, analyzes the text for casual markers including contractions, informal vocabulary, colloquial expressions, sentence fragments, and conversational tone. It then applies appropriate transformations: replacing contractions with full forms, substituting informal vocabulary with formal alternatives, restructuring sentence fragments into complete sentences, expanding abbreviations, and adjusting the overall tone. The output preserves the original meaning while elevating the formality level to match the selected style. When explanatory notes are enabled, the output includes brief annotations explaining key changes. Each request is authenticated with a subscription key and counts against your monthly usage cap.
