Changelog Entry Drafter is a writing tool that analyzes software updates, feature descriptions, and bug fix details from any webpage, then drafts a clear, concise changelog entry that summarizes the changes for a product release. It identifies new features, improvements, and bug fixes, then generates a well-structured changelog entry organized by category (New Features, Improvements, Bug Fixes) with a version heading and brief descriptions of each change. You can choose between a bulleted list or paragraph style, specify the version number, review the draft in the panel, edit it as needed, and copy it for use in your release notes or product documentation.

WHERE IT RUNS

This tool operates as a panel within the BotGentz browser extension, available for Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and Brave. It works on any webpage displaying software updates, feature descriptions, bug fix details, or similar release content. Common sources include GitHub releases, product update pages, release notes, and internal development portals.

HOW TO USE

Navigate to any page that displays software update, feature description, or bug fix details. Open the BotGentz extension and select Changelog Entry Drafter from the tool menu. The panel will appear on the side of your browser. Enter the version number and select your preferred style (bulleted list or paragraph) from the dropdown menu. Click the "Draft Changelog" button to analyze the current page content. The tool extracts the relevant update details and sends them along with your settings to the AI for processing. Within moments, you will receive a clear, concise changelog entry in the panel. Review the draft, make any edits directly in the panel, and click the copy button to save it to your clipboard for use in your release notes.

TECHNICAL SECTION — RELEASE AND UPDATE DETAIL EXTRACTION

This tool uses a specialized pipeline trained on software release and update communication patterns. First, it performs a hierarchical DOM traversal that prioritizes content blocks containing release indicators such as "release," "update," "feature," "improvement," "bug fix," "version," "changelog," "new," "enhanced," "fixed," and "changed." Second, it extracts candidate passages using a context-aware sliding window that captures both the release data and surrounding structural markers (version numbers, release dates, category labels). Third, a trained classifier assigns each passage a probability score for being part of a software release context using features like release language frequency ("release," "update," "feature," "bug fix"), version patterns, and category markers. Fourth, the system applies semantic clustering to group related content into three core categories: new features, improvements, and bug fixes. Finally, the structured clusters, combined with the user's provided information (version number and style preference), are passed to the AI model with a constrained prompt that instructs it to generate a complete changelog entry with standardized sections (version heading, category groupings, and concise descriptions), reducing hallucination and ensuring a professional, contextually appropriate draft.

THE PANEL

The side panel is designed for seamless integration into your browsing workflow. You can drag it to either side of the window, and it remembers your preferred position per website. It supports snap-to-edge behavior and can be collapsed to a small tab for minimal distraction. The panel is resizable horizontally and vertically, with a minimum width of 280px and maximum of 600px. Pressing the Escape key closes the panel. All settings are saved locally.

AI-generated changelog entries are for assistance only and should be reviewed for accuracy and completeness before publishing, as interpretations may occasionally miss release details or misread category assignments. Websites change their release page formats frequently, and extraction scripts may need periodic updates; we strive to keep the pattern library current. This tool does not store or transmit page content except for the extracted text sent to the AI API; your settings (version, style) are stored locally in your browser and are only sent to the AI as part of the draft generation. No browsing history or personal data is collected or retained. Subscription billing is monthly and can be canceled at any time.
