Clipboard Clear Timer

WHAT IT DOES

Clipboard Clear Timer monitors clipboard content changes and automatically clears the clipboard after a user-configurable delay (default 30 seconds) to prevent sensitive data (passwords, credit card numbers, personal information) from remaining accessible after copying, with visual countdown and warning before clearing. The tool helps protect your privacy by ensuring that copied sensitive information does not linger in the clipboard longer than necessary, reducing the risk of accidental pasting into untrusted applications or websites.

WHERE IT RUNS

This tool works on any webpage where you copy and paste data. It detects clipboard changes through copy, cut, paste, and focus events, and works across all websites as designated in its match patterns. It is particularly useful on pages where sensitive information is frequently copied, such as password managers, banking sites, email services, and form-heavy applications.

HOW TO USE

After installing the BotGentz extension, the tool automatically detects when you copy content to your clipboard. Configure your settings in the panel: set the clear delay in seconds (default 30), add exempt URLs (comma-separated) where the timer should not activate, and toggle the countdown display, notification on clear, and clear on page leave. When you copy text, a countdown timer starts showing the remaining seconds before the clipboard is cleared. You can manually clear the clipboard at any time using the "Clear Clipboard Now" button, start or stop the timer manually, or rely on the automatic clearing. The panel displays the current status and countdown.

TECHNICAL SECTION — CLIPBOARD MONITORING AND AUTOMATIC CLEARING

The tool uses multiple detection methods to monitor clipboard activity. It listens for copy and cut events to detect when new content is placed in the clipboard, and uses a fallback detection via paste events and window focus. When clipboard content is detected, the tool stores the content reference and starts a timer using setTimeout. A separate countdown interval updates the visual display every second. The clear operation uses both the document.execCommand("copy") method with an empty textarea and GM_setClipboard to ensure the clipboard is cleared across different browser environments. The tool respects exempt URLs to avoid clearing the clipboard on trusted sites where you might want to keep content longer.

THE PANEL

The panel is draggable anywhere on the screen and remembers its position per site. It can snap to the left, right, top, or bottom edges, or float freely. Collapse it to a small status indicator when you need more page visibility, and expand it again with a single click. Resize it vertically or horizontally to see more settings. Press Escape to close the panel instantly. All settings (clear delay, exempt URLs, show countdown, show notification, clear on leave) are saved globally and persist across sessions.

This tool requires the free BotGentz extension. The tool does not read or store clipboard content—it only detects when content exists and clears it after the configured delay. Due to browser security restrictions, clipboard detection may not work perfectly on all sites; the tool uses the best available methods. The clear operation uses GM_setClipboard which requires the clipboard grant. The tool is not a substitute for proper security practices—always be mindful of what you copy and where you paste it. Websites change their layouts frequently; scripts may need updates, and we work to keep them current but cannot guarantee uninterrupted operation.
