About this app
WHAT IT DOES
CoinGecko Price Tracker provides comprehensive read-only access to CoinGecko's cryptocurrency market data platform. Track current prices for any cryptocurrency with USD, BTC, and ETH denominated prices. Access market capitalization data including fully diluted valuation, total trading volume, 24-hour high and low prices, and market cap ranking. Retrieve supply metrics including circulating supply, total supply, and maximum supply. View price change percentages across multiple timeframes including 1-hour, 24-hour, 7-day, 30-day, and 90-day periods. Access price chart data with historical price points and sparkline data. View market pairs showing trading pairs and volumes across exchanges. Access exchange information showing top exchanges by volume and total market volume. Retrieve token contract addresses for verified tokens. This is an essential tool for traders, investors, and analysts who need to monitor cryptocurrency market conditions and price movements.
HOW TO USE
1. Connect your Web3 wallet (Ethereum, Polygon, Arbitrum, Optimism, BSC, or any EVM-compatible chain).
2. Select the network that matches your target chain from the dropdown.
3. Enter an asset name or ID in the input field (e.g., "bitcoin", "ethereum", "uniswap").
4. Choose the data type you want to track: current price, market data, supply metrics, price chart, market pairs, or exchange information.
5. Click "track price" to retrieve the data from CoinGecko's API.
6. Review the results displayed in a structured format showing key metrics with appropriate formatting.
7. Use the "copy JSON" button to export the complete data for further analysis or integration.
TECHNICAL MECHANISM
CoinGecko Price Tracker interacts with CoinGecko's public API endpoints to retrieve cryptocurrency market data. The tool constructs API requests using the provided asset ID and data type, leveraging CoinGecko's standardized data structures. For current price data, the tool queries the price endpoint which returns real-time pricing across multiple currencies. For market data, it accesses the market data endpoint which provides market cap, volume, and supply metrics. The tool parses the JSON responses and transforms them into a user-friendly display format, automatically detecting and formatting numeric values, percentages, and currency amounts. Price changes are displayed with color-coded indicators (green for positive, red for negative). Supply metrics are formatted with appropriate units (millions, billions). Chart data is presented as historical price points with sparkline visualization. Market pairs are displayed in tabular format showing pair names, prices, and volumes. Exchange information shows top exchanges by volume with total market volume. The tool handles different response structures gracefully and provides clear feedback during the fetch operation. All data is normalized and presented consistently regardless of the asset.
WHAT IT CANNOT SEE
This tool is a frontend for the CoinGecko API — it does not validate data accuracy, verify completeness, or detect inconsistencies between CoinGecko's data and actual market conditions. The tool cannot guarantee that prices reflect current market conditions or that data has been updated recently. It cannot validate market data aggregation methodology or ensure that all assets have complete price coverage. The tool cannot detect if CoinGecko's data sources have been compromised or if there are errors in the data aggregation algorithms. All data is presented as provided by CoinGecko — if the API returns incomplete, outdated, or incorrect information, this tool will display it without warning. The tool cannot predict market movements or provide real-time data beyond CoinGecko's update frequency. It cannot fetch data for assets not covered by CoinGecko's platform or for tokens that have not been listed.
PLEASE NOTE
CoinGecko Price Tracker supports EVM-compatible blockchains only (Ethereum Mainnet, Goerli, Polygon, Arbitrum One, Optimism, BNB Smart Chain, and others via network selection). The tool requires a CoinGecko API key — in this implementation, it uses a simulated key for demonstration purposes. For production use, you must provide your own CoinGecko API key or use the free public API with rate limits. The tool never submits transactions or signs messages; it is strictly read-only. Data fetch performance depends on CoinGecko's API response times and your network connection. Free API keys have rate limits of 10-30 requests per minute; paid keys offer higher limits. Some assets may have limited data depending on CoinGecko's coverage and the specific data type requested. Price data is typically updated every 1-5 minutes for major assets and less frequently for smaller cap assets.
