WHAT IT DOES

The Contract Upgrade Migration Executor enables users to migrate their positions from old contract versions to new contract versions during protocol upgrades. Smart contract upgrades are common in DeFi as protocols improve functionality, fix bugs, or optimize gas efficiency. This tool handles the migration process by withdrawing positions from the old contract, managing token approvals, and depositing into the upgraded contract with configurable migration methods including standard, batch, and emergency options.

The tool reads old contract state, new contract state, user positions, token balances, current prices, migration parameters, upgrade paths, position details, and contract versions. It identifies the user's position in the old contract and calculates what needs to be moved to the new contract. The tool supports multiple migration methods: standard (single transaction migration), batch (migrating multiple positions at once), and emergency (bypassing certain checks when the old contract is compromised). Each method includes configurable slippage parameters to protect against adverse price movements.

HOW TO USE

1. Connect your wallet using the Connect button. The tool automatically detects your connected address and network.

2. Select the network where your contracts are deployed using the network dropdown.

3. Enter the old contract address (v1) and the new contract address (v2).

4. Enter the position ID (if applicable), the token address you want to migrate, and the amount to migrate (0 for all).

5. Select the migration method: Standard, Batch, or Emergency.

6. Configure your slippage tolerance percentage for the migration.

7. Click "Preview migration" to see what will be withdrawn from the old contract and deposited into the new one.

8. Review the migration details in the preview panel including both contracts, position ID, token, amount, and method.

9. Click "Execute Migration" to submit the migration transaction through your wallet.

10. The tool will handle the withdrawal from the old contract, approvals, and deposit into the upgraded contract.

TECHNICAL MECHANISM

The tool interacts with both the old and new contract versions to execute the migration. First, it reads the user's position state from the old contract to verify the position exists and can be migrated. The tool then initiates the migration using the selected method: for standard migrations, it calls the migration function on the new contract which handles the entire process atomically; for batch migrations, it processes multiple positions or tokens in sequence; for emergency migrations, it bypasses certain safety checks to maximize fund recovery when the old contract is compromised. The tool verifies the user's balance before executing the migration and handles any approvals required for token transfers. The entire process is orchestrated to ensure the position is properly recreated in the new contract with all parameters preserved.

WHAT IT CANNOT SEE

This tool cannot verify that the price feed is accurate or reliable; it relies on the contracts' internal pricing. It cannot detect if the oracle has been compromised or manipulated. It cannot ensure that migration will execute at the optimal price due to slippage, market volatility, and block timing. It cannot guarantee that migration will complete successfully if the new contract has not been audited or contains bugs. It cannot verify that the contracts have not been modified beyond the intended upgrade. It cannot detect if the swap path is optimal or if the transaction is being front-run by malicious actors. It cannot recover funds if execution fails due to contract bugs, insufficient approvals, out-of-gas errors, or blockchain reorgs. It cannot verify that tokens being moved are legitimate or not honeypot contracts. It cannot predict market movements, price gaps, or flash crashes that may affect migration value. It cannot guarantee execution during extreme network congestion, high gas prices, or volatile market conditions. It cannot detect if the upgraded contract has been compromised. It cannot prevent the user from canceling or modifying migration parameters through other interfaces. It cannot ensure that migration is economically optimal or that gas costs do not exceed the migration value. It cannot guarantee that the new contract will honor all previous states or positions.
