About this app
WHAT IT DOES
Cost Basis Overlay for Trade is your real-time trading intelligence tool that overlays cost basis information directly onto DEX swap and NFT marketplace trade interfaces. It automatically detects the token pair and trade amount you're viewing, then queries your cost basis ledger to display current cost basis, unrealized gain/loss, and average entry price for tokens being traded. The overlay highlights buy/sell decisions with color-coded indicators based on current price relative to your cost basis—green for profitable positions, red for losing positions, and neutral for at-cost positions. It provides real-time overlay updates as trade parameters change, and supports manual cost basis adjustments directly from the overlay interface.
WHERE IT RUNS
This script runs on all major DEX interfaces including Uniswap (app.uniswap.org), SushiSwap (app.sushi.com), Curve (curve.fi), Balancer (balancer.fi), 1inch (1inch.io), 0x Protocol (0x.org), CowSwap (cow.fi), and PancakeSwap (app.pancakeswap.finance), as well as major NFT marketplaces including OpenSea (opensea.io), Blur (blur.io), LooksRare (looksrare.org), and Zora (zora.co). It overlays information directly on trade pages, swap interfaces, and NFT listing pages.
HOW TO USE
Install the script through the BotGentz userscript manager. Click "Connect Wallet" to link your EVM wallet extension. The tool automatically loads your cost basis ledger from persistent storage. Navigate to any supported trade page—the overlay will appear automatically if cost basis data is available for the detected token. Use "Add to Ledger" to manually enter cost basis for tokens acquired before script installation. The overlay displays your average entry price, unrealized gain/loss percentage, and absolute gain/loss. Hover over the overlay for detailed tooltip information. Use the "Show Overlay" and "Hide Overlay" buttons to control visibility.
REAL-TIME COST BASIS OVERLAY ENGINE WITH PERSISTENT LEDGER INTEGRATION
Unlike simple portfolio trackers that require switching between apps, this tool integrates directly with your trading interface through a dynamic overlay engine. The engine continuously monitors the DOM for token pair changes, amount inputs, and price updates, then queries the persistent cost basis ledger to retrieve historical acquisition data for each token. The overlay calculates unrealized gain/loss using the formula: (currentPrice - averageEntryPrice) × positionSize, and displays both absolute and percentage values. Color-coded indicators (green/red/neutral) provide immediate visual feedback on position profitability. The overlay engine uses a non-intrusive floating badge that automatically positions itself on the trade interface, with hover tooltips providing detailed breakdowns. The entire system is driven by a persistent cost basis ledger stored locally, allowing manual entries for tokens acquired before script installation and maintaining accurate tracking across all trading sessions.
THE PANEL
The floating panel is fully draggable and snap-to-edge enabled. You can collapse it to a compact bubble when not in use, resize it to your preferred dimensions, and it remembers its position across page loads using persistent storage. Press Escape to quickly dismiss the panel. The panel displays your current overlay status, cost basis ledger entries for detected tokens, and provides cost basis entry and settings management.
PLEASE NOTE
This script requires the free BotGentz extension to be installed in your browser—it does not run as a standalone extension. You also need a real EVM wallet extension already installed and configured. The tool cannot show cost basis for tokens not previously tracked in the ledger and relies on the page exposing token pair and amount data in a detectable format. No user data is collected or transmitted—all cost basis data stays local in your browser storage. The overlay provides visual assistance for trading decisions but does not constitute financial advice.
