WHAT IT DOES

The DAO Multisig Signer Onboarding Tool enables DAOs to add new signers to their multisig wallets. Multisig wallets are essential for DAO treasury management, requiring multiple signatures to execute transactions. As DAOs evolve, new signers need to be onboarded to replace departing signers, adjust threshold requirements, or expand the signing pool. This tool provides a streamlined interface to propose and execute signer additions to the multisig wallet.

The tool reads multisig contract state, current signers list, signer parameters, signer addresses, threshold settings, ownership status, and approval status. It displays the current signers and threshold before onboarding. The tool supports adding a new signer address with an optional label for identification. The onboarding process typically requires approval from existing signers before the new signer can be added.

HOW TO USE

1. Connect your wallet using the Connect button. The tool automatically detects your connected address and network.

2. Select the network where your multisig contract is deployed using the network dropdown.

3. Enter the multisig contract address and the new signer address you want to onboard.

4. Optionally enter a label or name for the new signer.

5. Click "Load multisig" to view the current signers and threshold.

6. Review the multisig details in the preview panel including current signers, threshold, and new signer address.

7. Click "Onboard Signer" to submit the onboarding transaction through your wallet.

8. The tool will handle the transaction and update the status upon completion.

TECHNICAL MECHANISM

The tool interacts with the multisig contract's signer management functions. First, it reads the current signers list and threshold using view functions. When adding a new signer, the tool calls the addSigner or onboardSigner function with the new signer address as a parameter. This function typically requires that the caller is an existing signer and that the number of current signers does not exceed the maximum allowed. It cannot ensure that signer onboarding will execute if the multisig contract is frozen or paused. It cannot guarantee that the proposed signer is trustworthy or legitimate. It cannot verify that the multisig contract has not been upgraded or modified. It cannot detect if the onboarding path is optimal or if the transaction is being front-run by malicious actors. It cannot recover funds if execution fails due to contract bugs, insufficient gas, out-of-gas errors, or blockchain reorgs. It cannot verify that the signer addresses are legitimate or not. It cannot predict market movements or flash crashes that may affect gas costs. It cannot guarantee execution during extreme network congestion, high gas prices, or volatile market conditions. It cannot detect if the underlying multisig protocol has been compromised. It cannot prevent the user from canceling or modifying onboarding parameters through other interfaces. It cannot ensure that onboarding is approved by the required number of existing signers. It cannot guarantee that the signer will be successfully added before any pending transactions.
