WHAT IT DOES

Data Availability Risk Explainer is a read-only tool that analyzes on-chain data for rollup data availability (DA) and generates AI-powered plain-language explanations of DA risk profiles. It reads DA blob availability status, blob submission data, DA layer state, rollup state root, batch commitments, validator attestations, DA protocol parameters, blob storage duration, L1 finalization state, challenge history, DA sampling status, and custody period status. The tool then presents this data alongside an AI-generated explanation of blob availability, custody status, and potential risks — helping you understand the data availability landscape before submitting a batch or monitoring DA health.

HOW TO USE

Connect your wallet using the BGWallet bridge and select your target network (Ethereum Mainnet is recommended for L1 checks, but Arbitrum, Optimism, and Polygon are also supported). Enter the rollup or DA contract address — you vouch for this contract, not the tool. Enter the batch ID or blob reference you want to check. Optionally specify the rollup name. Click "Analyze DA risk" to read on-chain data. The tool displays the DA contract, batch or blob reference, rollup name, blob availability, custody period, and validator attestations. Detailed information includes DA layer state, state root, batch commitment, DA protocol parameters, blob storage duration, L1 finalization state, challenge history, and DA sampling status. An availability confidence meter visually indicates how confident the tool is about data availability. An AI explanation appears below the on-chain data, describing the DA risk profile including blob availability, custody period, potential risks, and what happens if data becomes unavailable. The wallet's own signature step still protects you — this explanation is informational only and does not replace reviewing what you approve in your wallet.

TECHNICAL MECHANISM

The tool uses ethers.js v5.7.2 with the provider from the BGWallet bridge to read on-chain data from the contract you specify. No hardcoded contract addresses are used — you are always in control of which contract you trust. When analyzing DA risk, the tool reads blob availability status from the DA layer contract (e.g., isBlobAvailable(), getBlobStatus()), blob submission data from the blob submission contract, DA layer state from the DA state management contract, rollup state root from the state commitment contract, batch commitments from the batch commitment contract, validator attestations from the validator attestation contract (e.g., getAttestations(), verifyAttestations()), DA protocol parameters from the parameter storage (e.g., custody period length, sampling requirements), blob storage duration from the storage duration tracking, L1 finalization state from the L1 bridge or finalization contract, challenge history from event logs (e.g., ChallengeInitiated, ChallengeResolved), DA sampling status from the sampling verification contract, and custody period status from the custody period management contract. The tool fetches event logs by walking backwards in chunks and halving chunk size on failure, ensuring logs are properly read despite varying RPC limitations. The data is formatted and passed to the AI bridge via BGAI.generate() with a structured prompt that includes all the on-chain data read. The AI is instructed to explain the DA risk profile including blob availability, custody period, potential risks, and what happens if data becomes unavailable — while stating plainly that it cannot verify off-chain DA layer integrity, blob retrieval success, or custody guarantee, and cannot guarantee that DA data will remain available for the full custody period. The AI response is capped at 1,024 tokens to ensure concise, focused risk assessments. All computed values are guarded against negative numbers — if an availability confidence score appears invalid, the tool flags it rather than displaying nonsensical values.

WHAT IT CANNOT SEE

This tool cannot verify off-chain DA layer integrity, blob retrieval success, or custody guarantee. It cannot guarantee that DA data will remain available for the full custody period. It cannot detect DA layer censorship, data withholding, or retrieval failures not reflected on-chain. The AI explanation is generated from on-chain data only and cannot detect hidden DA layer failures, blob retrieval issues, validator collusion, or off-chain data loss. It cannot predict DA layer downtime, storage failures, or network latency that may affect data availability. The tool does not continuously monitor DA data; each analysis is a snapshot at the time of the lookup. It cannot detect delayed blob availability, data retrieval failures, or off-chain data latency. The tool does not store any data persistently; all state is in-memory and resets on reload.
