About this app
WHAT IT DOES
DeFi Pulse TVL Tracker provides comprehensive read-only access to DeFi Pulse's decentralized finance intelligence platform. Track Total Value Locked (TVL) for any DeFi protocol with current TVL amounts, historical TVL data, and TVL rankings. Access protocol categories including Lending, DEX, Yield, Asset Management, and Derivatives. View individual protocol TVL amounts with 24-hour, 7-day, 30-day, and 90-day changes. Access TVL rankings showing which protocols dominate the DeFi landscape. View protocol breakdowns by chain showing TVL distribution across Ethereum, Polygon, Arbitrum, Optimism, and other chains. Access asset composition data showing which assets (ETH, USDC, DAI, USDT, etc.) make up protocol TVL. View lending metrics including supply, borrow, and utilization rates. Access DEX volume metrics showing trading activity across decentralized exchanges. View yield farming data including strategy APYs, TVL in yield strategies, and yield rankings. Access cross-protocol comparisons showing how different protocols stack up against each other. This is an essential tool for DeFi investors, analysts, and researchers who need to monitor the decentralized finance ecosystem.
HOW TO USE
1. Connect your Web3 wallet (Ethereum, Polygon, Arbitrum, Optimism, BSC, or any EVM-compatible chain).
2. Select the network that matches your target chain from the dropdown.
3. Enter a protocol name in the input field (e.g., "Aave", "MakerDAO", "Uniswap").
4. Choose the data type you want to track: overview, protocol TVL, category breakdown, chain breakdown, asset composition, historical TVL, or yield farming.
5. Click "track TVL" to retrieve the data from DeFi Pulse's API.
6. Review the results displayed in a structured format showing key metrics with appropriate formatting.
7. Use the "copy JSON" button to export the complete data for further analysis or integration.
TECHNICAL MECHANISM
DeFi Pulse TVL Tracker interacts with DeFi Pulse's API endpoints to retrieve protocol TVL and DeFi ecosystem data. The tool constructs API requests using the provided protocol name and data type, leveraging DeFi Pulse's standardized data structures. For TVL data, the tool queries the TVL endpoint which returns current TVL amounts, changes, and rankings. For protocol data, it accesses the protocol endpoint which provides category, chains, and asset composition. The tool parses the JSON responses and transforms them into a user-friendly display format, automatically detecting and formatting numeric values, percentages, and currency amounts. TVL values are formatted with appropriate units (millions, billions). Protocol categories are displayed with color-coded indicators. Chain breakdowns show TVL distribution across multiple chains with percentage shares. Asset composition shows which assets are locked in the protocol. Historical TVL data is presented with trend indicators and all-time high values. Yield farming data displays APY percentages and TVL in yield strategies. The tool handles different response structures gracefully and provides clear feedback during the fetch operation. All data is normalized and presented consistently regardless of the protocol or data type.
WHAT IT CANNOT SEE
This tool is a frontend for the DeFi Pulse API — it does not validate data accuracy, verify completeness, or detect inconsistencies between DeFi Pulse's data and actual protocol state. The tool cannot guarantee that TVL figures reflect current protocol state or that data has been updated recently. It cannot validate TVL calculation methodology or ensure that all DeFi protocols have complete TVL coverage. The tool cannot detect if DeFi Pulse's data sources have been compromised or if there are errors in the data aggregation algorithms. All data is presented as provided by DeFi Pulse — if the API returns incomplete, outdated, or incorrect information, this tool will display it without warning. The tool cannot predict TVL trends or provide real-time data beyond DeFi Pulse's update frequency. It cannot fetch data for protocols not covered by DeFi Pulse's platform or for chains not supported by DeFi Pulse.
PLEASE NOTE
DeFi Pulse TVL Tracker supports EVM-compatible blockchains only (Ethereum Mainnet, Goerli, Polygon, Arbitrum One, Optimism, BNB Smart Chain, and others via network selection). The tool requires a DeFi Pulse API key — in this implementation, it uses a simulated key for demonstration purposes. For production use, you must provide your own DeFi Pulse API key. The tool never submits transactions or signs messages; it is strictly read-only. Data fetch performance depends on DeFi Pulse's API response times and your network connection. Some protocols may have limited data depending on DeFi Pulse's coverage and the specific data type requested. TVL data is typically updated every 15-30 minutes for major protocols and less frequently for smaller protocols. Free API keys have rate limits; paid keys offer higher limits.
