About this app

WHAT IT DOES

Fidelity NetBenefits Web Contribution Tracker automatically scans Fidelity NetBenefits contribution and account pages to extract comprehensive contribution data including contribution type (Pre-Tax, Roth, After-Tax), contribution amounts, employer match, account balances, and year-to-date totals. The tool compares your current contributions against annual limits (2025 401k limit of $23,500, with a $7,500 catch-up limit for those 50+) and displays visual progress bars toward your contribution goals. A floating overlay panel shows a complete contribution summary with year-to-date totals, employer match, and account balance. The panel calculates remaining contribution room and displays it prominently. You can set custom contribution goals, and your progress toward those goals is tracked across sessions with a dedicated progress bar. This provides a complete, visual overview of your retirement contribution progress.

WHERE IT RUNS

This extension operates exclusively on netbenefits.com and fidelity.com domain pages that contain contribution and account content—specifically pages with "/contribution", "/account", "/summary", or "/portfolio" in the URL path, or pages that display contribution information and account balances. It works alongside the free BotGentz companion extension, which provides the necessary DOM access and page interaction capabilities. The contribution tracker runs entirely within your local browser instance and does not communicate with any external servers or APIs. All contribution data extraction, progress tracking, and goal preferences are processed and stored on your machine, ensuring your financial data and contribution preferences remain private. It supports all modern Chromium-based browsers (Chrome, Edge, Brave, Opera) and Firefox when paired with the BotGentz bridge.

HOW TO USE

After installing both BotGentz and this contribution tracker, navigate to any Fidelity NetBenefits contribution or account page. Within 1-2 seconds, a panel appears in the bottom-right corner displaying the account name, total balance, and contribution type. The "Contributions" section shows year-to-date employee contributions, employer match, and total contributions. The "Annual Limit Progress" section displays a progress bar showing how close you are to the annual limit, with color-coded indicators—green for under 80%, yellow for 80-100%, and red for exceeding the limit—along with the remaining contribution room. The "Goal" section lets you set a custom contribution goal by entering an amount, and shows a progress bar toward that goal. Your custom goal is saved automatically and persists across sessions. The "Catch-up" section shows the catch-up limit for those 50 and older. The panel provides a complete view of your retirement contribution progress.

CONTRIBUTION DATA EXTRACTION AND LIMIT TRACKING

The contribution tracker uses a multi-strategy extraction system to locate and parse contribution data from Fidelity NetBenefits pages. It first attempts to find structured contribution elements using selectors based on the site's typical class naming patterns, including contribution information, account balance, and summary elements. When these selectors fail due to site updates, the tool falls back to text-based parsing, scanning the page for contribution-related patterns using pattern matching for terms like "total balance," "employee contributions," "employer match," "year-to-date," "pre-tax," "Roth," and "after-tax." The annual limit is set to $23,500 (2025 401k limit), with a catch-up limit of $7,500 for those 50 and older. The tool calculates the percentage of the limit used and remaining contribution room. Custom goals are stored using GM_setValue and persist across sessions, with a progress bar showing progress toward the user-defined goal. Color-coded indicators provide visual feedback on contribution progress.

THE PANEL

The contribution tracker panel is a compact, functional overlay that integrates into the Fidelity NetBenefits page. It can be dragged by clicking and holding the title bar, positioning the panel anywhere on the screen for optimal visibility while you track your contributions. The panel includes a built-in snap feature that automatically aligns to the nearest screen edge when released within 48 pixels, keeping your workspace organized. Click the collapse arrow in the top-right corner to minimize the panel to a small icon bubble showing a gear emoji, preserving screen space while keeping the tool accessible. The panel is not resizable in this version, maintaining a consistent compact size that works on all screen resolutions. Press the Escape key to instantly hide the panel; press Escape again to restore it. All position, collapse state, and custom goal preferences are saved locally using GM_setValue and persist across browsing sessions.

PLEASE NOTE

This extension requires the free BotGentz extension to function—the contribution tracker does not work standalone. Fidelity NetBenefits occasionally updates its page layouts and contribution presentation formats, which may temporarily affect data extraction accuracy. The tool extracts contribution data from the visible page content; if contribution data is loaded dynamically after page load, you may need to wait a moment or refresh the page for the panel to populate. Annual limits are based on 2025 IRS limits and may change—always verify current limits with the official IRS website and your plan documents. The catch-up limit applies to those age 50 and older. Custom goals are for personal tracking only and do not affect your Fidelity account. The tool does not store or transmit any data; all contribution data extraction, progress tracking, and goal preferences are processed and saved entirely within your browser. This tool is designed for personal retirement planning assistance and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Fidelity Investments or NetBenefits. Always consult your official Fidelity NetBenefits account for authoritative contribution information and consult with qualified financial advisors for retirement planning decisions.
