WHAT IT DOES

Forum Thread Summarizer is a writing tool that analyzes forum threads, discussion boards, and comment sections from any webpage, then generates a concise summary of the thread. It identifies the original topic or question, the key arguments or viewpoints expressed, and any consensus, conclusion, or resolution reached, then produces a clear, easy-to-read summary that captures the essential content of the discussion. You can choose between a brief or detailed summary length, review the summary in the panel, edit it as needed, and copy it for your reference, for sharing with others, or for use in your own content.

WHERE IT RUNS

This tool operates as a panel within the BotGentz browser extension, available for Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and Brave. It works on any webpage displaying forum threads, discussion boards, comment sections, or similar discussion content. Common sources include Reddit, Quora, Discourse forums, and other online discussion platforms.

HOW TO USE

Navigate to any page that displays a forum thread, discussion board, or comment section. Open the BotGentz extension and select Forum Thread Summarizer from the tool menu. The panel will appear on the side of your browser. Select your preferred summary length (brief or detailed) from the dropdown menu. Click the "Summarize Thread" button to analyze the current page content. The tool extracts the relevant discussion content and sends it to the AI for processing. Within moments, you will receive a concise forum thread summary in the panel. Review the summary, make any edits directly in the panel, and click the copy button to save it to your clipboard for your reference.

TECHNICAL SECTION — FORUM AND DISCUSSION EXTRACTION

This tool uses a specialized pipeline trained on forum and discussion communication patterns. First, it performs a hierarchical DOM traversal that prioritizes content blocks containing forum indicators such as "forum," "thread," "post," "reply," "topic," "comment," "discussion," "argument," "viewpoint," "consensus," and "conclusion." Second, it extracts candidate passages using a context-aware sliding window that captures both the discussion data and surrounding structural markers (thread titles, usernames, post timestamps, reply hierarchies). Third, a trained classifier assigns each passage a probability score for being part of a forum discussion context using features like forum language frequency ("thread," "post," "reply," "OP," "quote"), argument markers, and consensus indicators. Fourth, the system applies semantic clustering to group related content into three core categories: the original topic, the key arguments or viewpoints, and any consensus or conclusions. Finally, the structured clusters, combined with the user's length preference, are passed to the AI model with a constrained prompt that instructs it to generate a concise summary covering the key categories, reducing hallucination and ensuring accurate, contextually appropriate insights.

THE PANEL

The side panel is designed for seamless integration into your browsing workflow. You can drag it to either side of the window, and it remembers your preferred position per website. It supports snap-to-edge behavior and can be collapsed to a small tab for minimal distraction. The panel is resizable horizontally and vertically, with a minimum width of 280px and maximum of 600px. Pressing the Escape key closes the panel. All settings are saved locally.

AI-generated forum summaries are for assistance only and should be reviewed for accuracy before relying on them, as interpretations may occasionally miss discussion nuances or misread the conversation context. Websites change their forum page formats frequently, and extraction scripts may need periodic updates; we strive to keep the pattern library current. This tool does not store or transmit page content except for the extracted text sent to the AI API. No browsing history or personal data is collected or retained. Subscription billing is monthly and can be canceled at any time.
