About this app

WHAT IT DOES

Gas Fee Budget Tracker is a comprehensive financial management tool that helps you control your blockchain transaction costs by tracking gas fee spending against a user-defined budget. When you execute any blockchain transaction, the tool captures the gas used and gas price via eth_call to your connected wallet's RPC endpoint, logging each transaction's gas cost in ETH. The panel displays a dashboard showing your current spending with a visual progress bar against your budget, color-coded alerts as you approach or exceed limits (50%, 75%, 90%, 100%), and a breakdown of spending by time period (daily, weekly, monthly). The tool calculates your average transaction cost and provides projections based on your current spending rate, helping you forecast whether you'll stay within budget. The budget management feature lets you set, modify, and reset budgets, with auto-reset options at period boundaries.

WHERE IT RUNS

This overlay operates on any website (matching all URLs) across the entire web. It works in any browser that supports the BotGentz extension framework and has an EVM-compatible wallet extension installed. The panel activates automatically when you're on a page and begins tracking your gas fee spending whenever transactions are detected.

HOW TO USE

Install the extension and connect your wallet. The tool automatically begins tracking gas fees from your transactions, building a history of spending. Set your budget by entering an amount in ETH and selecting a period (Daily, Weekly, or Monthly). The panel displays a dashboard with a visual progress bar showing your spending against the budget, spending breakdowns by period, and average transaction cost. Configure alert thresholds—defaults at 50%, 75%, 90%, and 100%—to receive notifications when spending approaches your budget limits. Choose reset behavior: auto-reset at period end or manual reset only. Use the "Save Budget" button to apply changes, "Reset Spending" to clear history, and "Copy Report" to export a summary. The tool also shows recent transaction history with gas costs, gas used, gas price, and timestamps.

MECHANISM: REAL-TIME GAS FEE CAPTURE WITH PERIOD-BASED BUDGET TRACKING

The extension implements a continuous gas fee monitoring system that captures every transaction's gas cost using the wallet's RPC endpoint. When a transaction is detected, the tool records the gas used (via eth_getTransactionReceipt) and the effective gas price (from the transaction receipt), calculating the total gas cost in the chain's native token (ETH for Ethereum mainnet). Each transaction is stored locally using GM_setValue with the gas cost, gas used, gas price, chain ID, timestamp, and transaction hash. The budget tracking engine aggregates spending by period (daily, weekly, monthly), comparing the total spent against the user-defined budget. The alert system evaluates spending at configurable thresholds (50%, 75%, 90%, 100%) and sends GM_notification when thresholds are crossed, with a cooldown to prevent duplicate alerts. The projection algorithm calculates the average daily spend over the current period and extrapolates to the full period to forecast whether the user will stay within budget. The auto-reset feature monitors period boundaries and automatically clears the spending history when a new period begins, ensuring the budget resets without manual intervention. All data is stored locally in the browser—no external servers or third-party APIs are used beyond the wallet's RPC endpoint.

THE PANEL

The overlay panel is fully draggable via its title bar and remembers its position per-site using GM_setValue. It snaps to the nearest edge when dragged within 40px of any screen boundary. The panel includes clear sections for budget dashboard (chain name, wallet address, current gas price, period label, budget amount, visual progress bar with percentage, spending amount, and status indicator with color coding), spending breakdown (daily, weekly, monthly totals, projected spending, average transaction cost), transaction history (list of recent transactions with gas cost, gas used, gas price, timestamp, and transaction hash), settings (budget input, period selector, reset behavior selector, spending tracking toggle, notification toggle), and action buttons (Save Budget, Reset Spending, Copy Report). The progress bar updates in real-time with color coding based on alert level—green for below 50%, yellow for 50-75%, orange for 75-90%, red for 90-100%, and crimson for exceeded. Pressing Escape temporarily dismisses the panel until you navigate to a new page or manually reactivate.

PLEASE NOTE

This extension requires the free BotGentz framework extension to be installed and active. You must also have a real EVM-compatible wallet extension (such as MetaMask, WalletConnect, Coinbase Wallet, or Rabby) already installed in your browser—the overlay uses your wallet's RPC provider for eth_gasPrice and eth_getTransactionReceipt calls. This tool is read-only—it does not send transactions or modify gas settings; it only tracks and displays gas fee spending. The tool cannot track gas fees for transactions that occurred before installation (no historical data); depends on the wallet's RPC endpoint which may be rate-limited or unavailable; cannot track gas fees for transactions that are not visible to the connected wallet (e.g., transactions from other wallets); does not support chains where gas fees are denominated in tokens other than the native token; cannot account for gas fees paid in tokens other than the chain's native token; does not support non-EVM chains where gas mechanics differ; and cannot automatically detect all transaction types or distinguish between different applications. No private keys, wallet balances, browsing history, or transaction data are ever collected, transmitted, or stored outside your local browser—all data is stored locally using GM_setValue with automatic retention of up to 500 transactions. The budget tracker is a financial management aid—always verify your actual wallet balance and transaction costs independently.
