About this app

WHAT IT DOES

The Grant Clawback Executor enables grant administrators to recover unvested or misused grant funds from recipients when clawback conditions are met. Clawback is an important governance mechanism that allows DAOs to recover funds from grants that are not meeting milestones, where recipients have violated grant terms, or when vesting conditions are not satisfied. This tool provides a streamlined interface to execute grant clawbacks with configurable amounts, recipient addresses, and optional reasons.

The tool reads grant contract state, milestone state, grant parameters, recipient addresses, token balances, clawback conditions, grant amounts, clawback eligibility, approval status, grant history, clawback history, and vesting status. It supports executing clawbacks for specific grants with configurable amounts and reasons. The tool checks that the clawback conditions are met and that the caller has the required permissions before executing.

HOW TO USE

1. Connect your wallet using the Connect button. The tool automatically detects your connected address and network.

2. Select the network where your grant contract is deployed using the network dropdown.

3. Enter the grant contract address, the grant ID, and the recipient address.

4. Enter the token to clawback and the amount to recover.

5. Optionally enter a reason for the clawback (e.g., "Milestone not met").

6. Configure your slippage tolerance percentage for the clawback transaction.

7. Click "Load grant" to verify the grant exists and is eligible for clawback.

8. Review the clawback details in the preview panel including grant ID, recipient, token, amount, and reason.

9. Click "Execute Clawback" to submit the clawback transaction through your wallet.

10. The tool will handle the recovery of funds from the recipient.

TECHNICAL MECHANISM

The tool interacts with the grant contract's clawback function, which typically takes the grant ID, recipient address, token address, and amount as parameters. Before executing, the tool verifies that the grant exists, is in a clawback-eligible state, and that the caller has the required permissions (e.g., grant admin or governance). The clawback function transfers the specified token amount from the recipient's wallet or from the escrow contract back to the grant treasury, updates the grant state to reflect the clawback, and records the clawback reason for auditability. The tool also checks that the clawback amount does not exceed the unvested or recoverable amount.

WHAT IT CANNOT SEE

This tool cannot verify that the price feed is accurate or reliable; it relies on the grant contract's internal state. It cannot detect if the oracle has been compromised or manipulated. It cannot ensure that clawback will execute at the optimal price due to slippage, market volatility, and block timing. It cannot guarantee that clawback will succeed if the recipient has already spent or transferred the funds. It cannot verify that the clawback conditions have actually been met. It cannot verify that the recipient address is correct or that funds are recoverable. It cannot detect if the clawback path is optimal or if the transaction is being front-run by malicious actors. It cannot recover funds if execution fails due to contract bugs, insufficient approvals, out-of-gas errors, or blockchain reorgs. It cannot verify that the grant recipient is legitimate or not. It cannot predict market movements, price gaps, or flash crashes that may affect clawback value. It cannot guarantee execution during extreme network congestion, high gas prices, or volatile market conditions. It cannot detect if the underlying grant protocol has been compromised. It cannot prevent the user from canceling or modifying clawback parameters through other interfaces. It cannot ensure that clawback is approved by the required parties. It cannot guarantee that clawback conditions are accurately evaluated.

PLEASE NOTE

This tool is designed for EVM-compatible blockchains (Ethereum, Polygon, Arbitrum, Optimism, Base, BSC, Avalanche, Fantom, and others). It requires an active wallet connection and sufficient native currency for gas fees. Always verify the grant contract address, grant ID, recipient address, and clawback parameters before executing. Clawback execution may require governance approval or multisig confirmation depending on the grant contract's design. The tool is provided as-is with no warranty; users assume full responsibility for their transactions and should exercise caution when executing grant clawbacks. For mainnet usage, ensure the grant contract has been audited and you understand the risks of clawbacks including legal considerations, governance requirements, and smart contract risks.
