WHAT IT DOES

Hardware Wallet Connection Helper watches the current page for hardware wallet connection status, reads the connected account and network from window.ethereum, and provides guided prompts and status indicators for connecting a hardware wallet (Ledger, Trezor) via the wallet extension, with instructions for device setup and connection troubleshooting. It makes hardware wallet setup and connection straightforward for users of all experience levels.

WHERE IT RUNS

This tool operates as a userscript within the BotGentz extension framework, running directly in your browser on any website. It works on any EVM-compatible blockchain page—Ethereum, Polygon, Arbitrum, Optimism, and more—where wallet connections are used. The tool integrates seamlessly into your workflow, appearing as a draggable panel that stays accessible as you manage your hardware wallet connections.

HOW TO USE

Select your hardware wallet type (Ledger, Trezor, or Other) in the "Settings" section. Click "Connect Wallet" to connect your wallet extension and check the current connection status. The panel displays your connection status, connected account address, network, and whether a hardware wallet is detected. Click "Check Status" to refresh the connection check, or "Show Connection Steps" to view step-by-step instructions for your selected hardware wallet. The troubleshooting section provides common fixes for connection issues. The panel also shows step-by-step connection instructions tailored to your selected hardware wallet type.

TECHNICAL OPERATION

Hardware Wallet Connection Helper uses raw JSON-RPC calls via window.ethereum.request() to interact with the wallet extension. It reads the connected account using eth_accounts and the network chain ID using eth_chainId. The tool attempts to detect hardware wallet usage by checking provider properties such as isLedger and isTrezor, as well as inspecting the wallet provider for hardware wallet indicators. It listens for accountsChanged and chainChanged events to keep the status updated in real-time. The tool displays step-by-step instructions tailored to the selected hardware wallet type (Ledger-specific steps include enabling "Contract Data" in the Ethereum app, while Trezor steps include PIN entry and device confirmation). The troubleshooting section provides common fixes including USB connection verification, PIN entry, app selection, and firmware updates.

THE PANEL

The Hardware Wallet Connection Helper panel is fully draggable and remembers its position between sessions using GM_setValue. It snaps to the edge of the viewport for a clean interface and can be collapsed to a small icon when not in use. The panel is resizable to accommodate longer content. Press Escape to quickly close or collapse the panel. The design is optimized for productivity with a dark theme, clear visual hierarchy, and responsive controls that adapt to your workflow.

PLEASE NOTE

This tool requires the free BotGentz extension installed in your browser and a real EVM wallet extension (MetaMask, Rabby, etc.) already installed. EVM chains only—this does not work on non-EVM blockchains. The tool cannot detect the specific hardware wallet model or firmware version, cannot bypass hardware wallet security or PIN entry, cannot connect directly to the hardware device without the wallet extension, and cannot detect connection issues that are outside the wallet extension's control. No private keys are stored or transmitted—all connection happens through your wallet extension's native interface. Always verify transaction details on your hardware device screen before confirming.
