About this app

WHAT IT DOES

Hootsuite Bulk Post Approval Manager lets you approve or reject multiple posts in a single operation. Instead of opening each post individually, reviewing the content, clicking approve or reject, and confirming — repeating this for every single post — this tool provides a unified checklist of all posts in your approval queue. You can filter posts by status (Pending, Approved, Rejected) or by channel to quickly find the ones that need attention. Select any number of posts using checkboxes, choose your action (Approve or Reject) from the dropdown, and click Apply. The tool then automatically processes each selected post — clicking the approve or reject button and confirming if needed. This turns what could be dozens of manual operations into a single batch action, making social media workflow management and content governance significantly faster and more efficient.

WHERE IT RUNS

This script runs exclusively on the Hootsuite web application in your browser. It activates on the approval queue page, planner view, and publish dashboard within the Hootsuite interface. It requires the BotGentz extension to inject and execute the script. The tool does not work on the Hootsuite mobile app, the API, or any third-party Hootsuite clients — only the web-based Hootsuite interface accessed through a Chromium-based or Firefox browser. It specifically targets pages under *.hootsuite.com, including the Hootsuite approval queue and planner views.

HOW TO USE

After installing the script via BotGentz, navigate to your Hootsuite dashboard and open the Approval Queue, Planner, or Publish page. The tool automatically detects the post list and displays a floating panel on the right side. The panel shows all posts on the current page, with checkboxes next to each post entry. Each post displays its content preview, scheduled time, channel, and current approval status. Use the search box to filter by content, or use the status and channel filter dropdowns to narrow down your selection. Check the boxes for every post you want to approve or reject. Below the post list, select your action from the dropdown — Approve or Reject. Click "Apply Approval" and confirm the action. The tool will process each selected pending post one by one — clicking the approve or reject button and confirming if a confirmation dialog appears. A status message appears when the operation completes, showing how many posts were successfully processed. Posts that are already approved or rejected are skipped with a notification.

THE ACTUAL MECHANISM — WHY IT WORKS

Hootsuite's web interface is built with React and uses a component-based rendering system for its post management. The approval queue is rendered as cards or list items, each containing post metadata and action buttons. This tool scans the DOM for post items using multiple selector patterns that Hootsuite consistently uses across versions. For each post, it extracts the content, scheduled time, channel, and approval status from the visible text content and data attributes. Each post is assigned a unique identifier from data attributes or checkbox values. When approving or rejecting, the tool locates the appropriate action button within each post item — either a direct Approve/Reject button or an action menu containing these options — and triggers a click event. If Hootsuite shows a confirmation dialog, the tool detects it and clicks the confirm button. This approach works without making direct API calls, which would require authentication credentials and knowledge of Hootsuite's internal API structure. By using the existing UI, the tool works within Hootsuite's own permission and validation system, and continues to function even if the underlying API changes.

THE PANEL

The floating panel is fully draggable — click and drag the header to reposition it anywhere on the page. The panel's position is saved per site in localStorage, so it reappears exactly where you left it when you return to the approval queue. Double-click the header to snap the panel to the nearest edge (left or right). A collapse button minimizes the panel to a small tab showing a checkmark emoji badge, keeping it out of the way while still accessible. The post list inside the panel is scrollable and resizes vertically based on the number of posts. Pressing Escape while the panel is focused closes it completely; reopening is done via a small button injected near the page toolbar. All panel interactions are non-blocking — Hootsuite's main UI remains fully responsive while the panel is open, and the panel updates automatically when you navigate between pages.

PLEASE NOTE

This script requires the BotGentz extension (free) to run user scripts on Hootsuite. Hootsuite frequently updates its web interface and modal structures; if the tool stops working, check for an updated version within BotGentz's script repository. This tool does not store, transmit, or log any post data, content, or approval decisions — all operations occur locally in your browser with no external network requests except those made by Hootsuite itself. Approval or rejection actions are applied through Hootsuite's own UI event system, so all changes respect your account permissions and workflow settings. The tool does not bypass Hootsuite's security or permission system; it simply automates the clicks you would otherwise perform manually. For accounts with a large number of posts, the tool may take several minutes to complete the operation, as each post is processed sequentially with delays to avoid overwhelming the UI. A progress indicator shows which post is currently being processed. Always double-check your selections and action before applying changes, as bulk approvals or rejections affect your social media content calendar. The tool only affects posts visible on the current page; to process all posts, use Hootsuite's built-in pagination controls or adjust your filters to show all relevant posts. Posts that are already approved or rejected are automatically skipped.
