About this app

WHAT IT DOES This userscript helps Hotjar users quickly assess heatmap data quality by displaying session count and statistical significance directly on the dashboard. It scans Hotjar heatmap and session recording pages for session count indicators, view counts, and heatmap metadata. It then displays a visual badge or panel showing the number of sessions included in the current heatmap, the date range, coverage percentage, and a significance level. The script highlights whether the sample size is statistically significant (High, Medium, Low, or Very Low) and provides a device breakdown (desktop, mobile, tablet) if available. The badge updates automatically when you change filters or date ranges. WHERE IT RUNS The script runs on Hotjar heatmap and session recording dashboard pages. It works entirely within your browser, reading only the visible content of the current page. It does not track your browsing history, access other tabs, or send any data externally. All calculations are performed locally. HOW TO USE After installation, open the panel by clicking the tool's icon in the BotGentz sidebar. The script auto-scans Hotjar pages on load (toggle this on/off). Choose your display mode—"Badge only" shows a floating badge in the corner, "Panel only" shows details in the panel, or "Both" shows both. Toggle "Show significance" to display the statistical significance level. Click "Scan session data" to manually analyze the page. The badge displays session count, significance level, and device breakdown. The panel shows a full breakdown: session count, significance percentage, confidence, coverage, date range, and device distribution. Use "Clear data" to remove all overlays. THE TECHNICAL MECHANISM This script uses text pattern matching and data extraction to gather session information from Hotjar dashboard pages. It scans for session count patterns like "X sessions", "X views", or "X visits" using regex. Total traffic is extracted from patterns like "total traffic: X". Date ranges are captured from patterns like "MM/DD/YYYY - MM/DD/YYYY" or "from X to Y". Device breakdown is extracted using patterns for desktop, mobile, and tablet percentages. Statistical significance is calculated based on the session count relative to total traffic (if available) or using session count thresholds:
