WHAT IT DOES
L2 Native Bridge vs Third-Party Comparator watches the current L2 bridge page for the user's connected wallet address and the token being bridged, reads the user's balance and the current bridge fee from the page or contract, compares the native bridge option against third-party bridge providers (such as Hop, Across, or Synapse) by fetching estimated fees, gas costs, and estimated completion times from the page or via simulation, calculates the total cost and time difference for each option, and displays a side-by-side comparison with recommendations based on user preferences. The tool connects to the user's wallet via window.ethereum, detects the destination chain from the page URL, reads the user's native token balance, fetches current gas prices, calculates the native bridge cost and time (standard bridge fees and 7-day challenge period), simulates third-party bridge options with estimated fees and completion times (15 minutes to 2 hours), compares the total cost and time savings for each option, and provides a recommendation based on the user's preference for speed vs. cost savings.
WHERE IT RUNS
The tool runs as a panel inside your browser on L2 bridge pages at https://bridge.arbitrum.io/*, https://app.optimism.io/bridge/*, and https://app.hop.exchange/*. It works on the Arbitrum, Optimism, and Hop Protocol bridge interfaces where users can choose between native and third-party bridging options. The tool connects to your real EVM wallet extension (MetaMask, WalletConnect, or any wallet injecting window.ethereum) to read on-chain data via eth_call and the ethers library loaded at runtime. No data is sent to any external server; all reads happen directly from the blockchain through your wallet provider.
HOW TO USE
Install the BotGentz extension, navigate to the Arbitrum, Optimism, or Hop bridge page, and open the L2 Native Bridge vs Third-Party Comparator panel. Select your preference weighting from the dropdown — Speed First, Cost First, or Balanced — which controls the recommendation algorithm. Set your minimum savings threshold in USD (default $5) — the tool will only recommend a faster option if the cost difference is within this threshold. Set your maximum acceptable gas price in Gwei (default 50). Select the token you wish to bridge from the dropdown — ETH, USDC, USDT, or DAI. Click "Compare" — the tool detects the destination chain, reads your native token balance, fetches current gas prices, calculates the native bridge cost and time, simulates multiple third-party bridge options (Hop, Across, Synapse, Connext), compares the total cost and time savings for each option, and displays a side-by-side comparison with a clear recommendation based on your preferences. Review the output and use the recommended option for manual execution through the bridge interface.
MECHANISM — NATIVE VS THIRD-PARTY BRIDGE COMPARISON WITH MULTI-FACTOR SCORING
This tool uses a native vs third-party bridge comparison engine that evaluates multiple bridge options across cost, time, and reliability dimensions. The system first connects to window.ethereum and requests the user's wallet address. It detects the destination chain from the page URL to determine the appropriate native bridge parameters (Arbitrum: ~0.12% fee, 168 hours; Optimism: ~0.10% fee, 168 hours). Using the ethers library loaded at runtime, the tool reads the user's native token balance and fetches current gas prices. It calculates the total cost of the native bridge including fees and gas costs. It then evaluates four third-party bridge providers (Hop, Across, Synapse, Connext) using estimated fee percentages (0.14-0.20%), completion times (5-25 minutes), and gas costs. The recommendation algorithm uses a weighted scoring system based on the user's preference: Speed First gives 70% weight to time savings, Cost First gives 70% weight to cost savings, and Balanced gives equal weight to both. The tool also applies the minimum savings threshold to ensure that recommendations are meaningful and practical.
THE PANEL
The BotGentz panel is fully draggable, allowing you to position it anywhere on your screen without obstructing the bridge interface. It includes per-site position memory, so the panel returns to your preferred location each time you visit the bridge page. Snap-to-edge functionality lets you dock the panel to any side of the browser window. The panel collapses to a compact icon when not in use and expands with a single click. You can resize it to your preferred dimensions, and pressing the Escape key instantly closes the panel. All interactions are smooth and intuitive, designed to work alongside your bridging workflow.

This tool requires the free BotGentz extension and a real EVM wallet extension (such as MetaMask) already installed in your browser. EVM chains only — currently supports Ethereum mainnet bridging to Arbitrum, Optimism, and Hop Protocol. This is an analysis and comparison tool only — it does not execute bridge transactions automatically. The tool cannot guarantee that third-party bridge fee estimates remain stable at execution time. It cannot account for slippage or price differences between chains. It cannot read bridge data from providers not accessible via the page or API. It cannot verify the liquidity or availability of third-party bridges at the moment of execution. It cannot predict future fee changes or service availability. It cannot read private wallet information or transaction intentions. All blockchain reads are performed directly through your wallet provider; no data is stored or transmitted beyond your browser.
