WHAT IT DOES

Libby Web Hold Position Tracker reads hold position and wait time from your Libby library app page and displays a floating hold position tracker showing your current position in the hold queue, estimated wait time, and hold status. The badge shows your queue position as a number, the total number of people in the queue, estimated wait time, and the book title. Color coding shows position—green for first in line, blue for other positions. The extension tracks hold position changes over time, storing each position change with a timestamp per book. When your position reaches the top 3, a desktop notification is triggered. The panel displays your current hold position, wait time, book title, and hold history.

WHERE IT RUNS

This extension works on all Libby pages at libbyapp.com and its subdomains, specifically on account pages where holds and library book information are displayed. It runs on the main account page, the holds page, the shelf page, and any page displaying hold information. The extension operates entirely within your browser and does not access Libby's servers directly—it reads only what is visible on the page you are viewing. It works alongside the free BotGentz extension, which provides the necessary scripting environment.

HOW TO USE

Install the extension, then navigate to libbyapp.com and log in to your library account. The extension automatically creates a floating hold position tracker badge on the page. Click the extension's icon in your browser toolbar to open the settings panel. Use the "Show Overlay" / "Hide Overlay" button to toggle the badge visibility. The badge shows your queue position, wait time, and book title. Use the "Refresh" button to manually update the badge with the latest hold information. The "Show hold details" toggle controls whether additional hold details appear. The "Position change notifications" toggle controls desktop notifications when your position changes. Adjust the overlay transparency using the opacity dropdown (70%, 82%, 92%, or 100%). Drag the badge by clicking and holding anywhere inside it. Resize it by dragging the bottom-right corner. Close the badge with the × button.

HOLD POSITION EXTRACTION WITH PER-BOOK HISTORY AND NOTIFICATION

Unlike simple position display tools, this extension uses a multi-selector extraction engine to find hold items, positions, wait times, and status from Libby's varying page structures. It searches for hold items using multiple selector patterns (.hold-item, .hold-card, .library-item) and falls back to text parsing. Position is extracted from position elements, supporting both "X / Y" format and single number format. Wait time is extracted from wait-time elements. Status is detected using status elements and keyword matching (ready, available, pending, waiting, filled, complete). Per-book hold history is stored as a key-value object where keys are hold IDs and values are arrays of position records with timestamps, limited to 20 entries per hold. Position change notifications trigger when the position reaches the top 3, with a one-hour cooldown.

THE PANEL

The panel supports drag-to-move anywhere on the page. It remembers its position per site, so it stays where you placed it on libbyapp.com. Click the panel header to collapse it down to just the minimized bubble, or click the expand handle to show the full panel. The panel can be resized by dragging the bottom-right corner. Press the Escape key to close the expanded panel and return to the minimized state. All panel settings, including position, size, collapsed state, opacity, hold details visibility, notification preference, and per-book hold history, are saved per site and persist across browsing sessions.

PLEASE NOTE

This extension requires the free BotGentz extension to be installed and active, as it provides the underlying DOM injection and script execution environment. Libby's website changes periodically, and hold element structures, class names, and page layouts may be updated. When that happens, the extension may stop detecting hold data until an update is released. The extension stores your overlay position, size, opacity, visibility, hold details preference, notification preference, and per-book hold history locally in your browser's storage using GM_setValue. Hold history is stored as a key-value object where keys are hold IDs and values are arrays of position records. The hold position displayed is read from the page—the extension does not access Libby's internal hold data. Always verify with Libby directly for the most accurate hold status information. No data is ever sent to any server, and no personal information is collected. You can clear all stored settings at any time by clearing your browser data for libbyapp.com.
