About this app

WHAT IT DOES

Meetup Web RSVP Deadline Badge adds an intelligent floating badge to every Meetup event page that displays critical RSVP timing and attendance information. The badge automatically reads the RSVP deadline date and current attendee count directly from the event page, then calculates and shows the precise days and hours remaining until the RSVP cutoff. Events with deadlines approaching within 48 hours receive a striking visual highlight, alerting you to act quickly before spots fill up or the deadline passes. Beyond the immediate countdown, the badge tracks your personal RSVP status for each event you view, storing this information locally so you can instantly recognize which events you have already committed to attending. The history feature records attendee counts over multiple visits, allowing you to see how event popularity trends and whether a gathering is gaining or losing momentum. This turns a simple event page into a dynamic dashboard that helps you prioritize which events to join and when to make your decision.

WHERE IT RUNS

This extension operates exclusively on meetup.com domains, activating automatically on any URL that follows the event page pattern meetup.com/*/events/*. It works across all modern Chromium-based browsers including Chrome, Edge, Brave, and Opera, provided the BotGentz extension framework is installed. The badge appears only when you are viewing a valid event page and remains active as you scroll through the event details, ensuring you always have the deadline information visible without interrupting your browsing experience.

HOW TO USE

After installing BotGentz and this extension, simply navigate to any Meetup event page. The floating badge will appear in the default position at the bottom-right corner of your viewport. It immediately begins displaying the RSVP countdown and attendee count. To access more detailed information, click the badge to expand the detailed panel. From here you can view the full countdown clock, toggle your RSVP status for the event, see a history graph of attendee counts from your previous visits, and configure badge settings. To change the badge position, drag it to any screen edge or corner—it will snap neatly into place. Press the Escape key at any time to collapse the expanded panel. The badge automatically saves all your position preferences, RSVP toggles, and history data locally between sessions, so your experience remains consistent across visits.

THE TECHNICAL MECHANISM

The extension's extraction engine uses a hybrid selector strategy that prioritizes stability over speed. It first attempts to locate event timing data using JSON-LD structured data embedded in the page's head section, specifically looking for the "startDate" and "endDate" properties within the Event schema. When structured data is unavailable or incomplete, the engine switches to a semantic DOM walker that analyzes elements with microdata attributes (itemprop="startDate") or common class patterns observed in Meetup's React-rendered components. For attendee counts, the engine identifies the RSVP section by scanning for elements containing the string "attending" or "going" in their text content, then extracts numeric values using a localized number parser that handles thousand separators and international formats. All extracted values are validated through a rule-based system: deadlines must be in the future within a 30-day window, attendee counts must be positive integers, and timestamps must conform to ISO 8601 or common human-readable date formats. This multi-layered approach ensures reliable extraction even when Meetup deploys incremental UI changes that break single-selector solutions.

THE PANEL

The badge panel provides a compact yet comprehensive information display. The collapsed badge shows a minimal countdown and attendee count. When clicked, it expands into a full panel featuring a large countdown clock, attendee count with a trend arrow indicating whether attendance has increased or decreased since your last visit, a one-click RSVP status toggle button, and a mini line chart showing historical attendee counts. The panel is fully draggable—grab any part of the expanded panel to reposition it, and it will snap to the nearest viewport edge or corner when released. The panel can be resized vertically by dragging its bottom edge. Clicking outside the panel or pressing Escape closes it instantly. All position, size, and collapse state are saved per site, meaning your preferred layout for meetup.com persists across all event pages.

PLEASE NOTE

This extension requires the free BotGentz extension framework to be installed and enabled in your browser. Meetup regularly updates its website code, which may occasionally affect the extension's ability to read event data. The developer actively monitors these changes and releases updates to maintain compatibility, but brief periods of reduced functionality may occur between updates. This extension only reads publicly visible event page content and does not modify or submit any data to Meetup's servers. All RSVP statuses, history records, and preference settings are stored locally in your browser's IndexedDB storage and are never transmitted to any external server. No personal data is collected, and the extension operates entirely client-side with no network requests beyond loading the event page itself. This extension does not log in to Meetup on your behalf or access any private account information.
