The tool then presents this data alongside an AI-generated explanation of activation timeline, validator readiness, compatibility risks, and potential network impact — helping you understand the risks before acting on upgrade-related governance or preparing your infrastructure.

HOW TO USE

Connect your wallet using the BGWallet bridge and select your target network. Enter the governance or upgrade contract address — you vouch for this contract, not the tool. Enter the upgrade proposal ID you want to analyze. Optionally specify the network name. Click "Analyze upgrade risk" to read on-chain data. The tool displays the contract address, proposal ID, network name, upgrade status, activation timeline, and validator readiness. Detailed information includes current and proposed versions, voting power distribution, validator set size, client versions, node participation, compatibility status, challenge period status, block finality status, reorg risk indicators, and execution status. An upgrade risk meter visually indicates the overall risk level (Low/Medium/High/Critical). An AI explanation appears below the on-chain data, describing the network upgrade's risk profile including activation timeline, validator readiness, compatibility risks, and potential network impact if the upgrade proceeds. The wallet's own signature step still protects you — this explanation is informational only and does not replace reviewing what you approve in your wallet.

TECHNICAL MECHANISM

The tool uses ethers.js v5.7.2 with the provider from the BGWallet bridge to read on-chain data from the contract you specify. No hardcoded contract addresses are used — you are always in control of which contract you trust. When analyzing network upgrade risk, the tool reads upgrade proposal details from the governance or upgrade contract (e.g., getProposal(), getUpgrade()), current network version from the version registry or configuration contract (e.g., getVersion()), proposed version from the upgrade payload or proposal, upgrade activation time from the upgrade schedule contract, upgrade status from the execution or status tracking contract, validator set from the validator registry (e.g., getValidators(), getActiveValidators()), voting power distribution from the voting power contract, governance proposal status from the governance module, protocol parameters from the parameter storage, compatibility checks from the compatibility verification contract, upgrade history from event logs (e.g., UpgradeInitiated, UpgradeCompleted, VersionChanged), client versions from the client registry or upgrade payload, node participation metrics from the participation tracking contract, block finality status from the finality monitoring contract, chain reorg risk indicators from the reorg monitoring contract, execution status from the execution contract, and challenge period status from the challenge period management contract. The tool fetches event logs by walking backwards in chunks and halving chunk size on failure, ensuring logs are properly read despite varying RPC limitations. The data is formatted and passed to the AI bridge via BGAI.generate() with a structured prompt that includes all the on-chain data read. The AI is instructed to explain the network upgrade's risk profile including activation timeline, validator readiness, compatibility risks, and potential network impact — while stating plainly that it cannot predict client compatibility issues, node upgrade adoption rates, or network disruptions, and cannot guarantee that the upgrade will activate successfully or without incident. The AI response is capped at 1,024 tokens to ensure concise, focused risk assessments. All computed values are guarded against negative numbers — if a validator readiness percentage or risk score appears invalid, the tool flags it rather than displaying nonsensical values.

WHAT IT CANNOT SEE

This tool cannot predict client compatibility issues, node upgrade adoption rates, or network disruptions. It cannot guarantee that the upgrade will activate successfully or without incident. It cannot detect off-chain client bugs, node misconfigurations, or network partitions not reflected on-chain. The AI explanation is generated from on-chain data only and cannot detect hidden client software bugs, node operator misconfigurations, validator coordination failures, or off-chain network issues. It cannot predict validator behavior after the upgrade, network performance under new parameters, or potential user adoption issues. The tool does not continuously monitor the upgrade; each analysis is a snapshot at the time of the lookup. It cannot detect delayed activation, failed upgrades, or off-chain monitoring issues. The tool does not store any data persistently; all state is in-memory and resets on reload.
