WHAT IT DOES

Newsletter Popup Blocker automatically detects and removes newsletter signup popups, subscription overlays, and email capture modals from web pages. The tool scans the page for common popup patterns—looking for modal-like elements with newsletter-related IDs, classes, or text content, as well as elements that contain email input fields and submit buttons. When a newsletter popup is detected, it's blocked from view, giving you a cleaner reading experience. You can manually block or unblock popups at any time, whitelist specific sites to exclude them from automatic blocking, and adjust the detection delay. The extension shows a count of blocked popups and displays a notification when popups are blocked.

WHERE IT RUNS

The extension runs entirely within your browser's local environment using the BotGentz framework. All popup detection, DOM analysis, and blocking operations occur on your machine without any network requests. No page content, browsing data, or user activity is ever transmitted, uploaded, or stored externally. The tool works on any website and respects the browser's security boundaries, operating within the isolated extension sandbox.

HOW TO USE

Click the extension toolbar icon to open the Newsletter Popup Blocker panel. The extension works automatically—when enabled, it detects and blocks popups on page load. Use the "Block All Popups" button to manually block any visible newsletter popups on the current page. Use "Unblock All" to restore blocked popups. Use "Toggle Blocking" to switch between blocking and unblocking popups. Toggle "Enable extension" to turn the tool on or off. Toggle "Auto block on page load" to control whether popups are blocked automatically. Toggle "Show notifications" to receive a flash message when popups are blocked. Add domains to the whitelist to prevent automatic blocking on specific sites. Adjust the "Block Delay" setting to control how long the tool waits after page load before attempting to block popups. The panel shows the current status and the number of blocked popups.

THE POPUP DETECTION ENGINE — WHY IT WORKS

Most popup blockers rely on fixed lists of selectors that quickly become outdated as websites change their popup implementations. This tool uses a multi-layered detection strategy that goes beyond simple selector matching. First, it checks a comprehensive list of common newsletter-related IDs and classes (newsletter, subscribe, signup, email, modal, popup, overlay, etc.). Second, it analyzes element positioning—popups are often fixed or absolute-positioned elements that appear in front of page content, with a modal overlay effect. Third, it scans the text content of elements for newsletter-related keywords and checks for the presence of email input fields and submit buttons. The tool combines these signals to identify popups with high confidence, handling diverse implementations from different signup platforms and newsletter services. The block delay allows popups to fully render before detection, ensuring reliable results across different page load speeds.

THE PANEL

The Newsletter Popup Blocker panel is fully draggable by its title bar and remembers its position on screen per website. It snaps to the edges of your browser window for clean alignment. Collapse the panel to a compact icon strip using the minimize button, restoring it with a single click. Resize the panel by dragging any edge or corner; the controls and options adjust proportionally. Press the Escape key to close the panel instantly. The panel maintains independent state for each browser tab, allowing you to control popup blocking in multiple tabs simultaneously.

PLEASE NOTE

This extension requires the free BotGentz extension framework to be installed and enabled. The tool blocks newsletter popups visually but does not interact with the underlying scripts—it simply removes the popup from view. Some websites may require you to dismiss the popup before scrolling or interacting with certain content; in those cases, manual unblocking may be needed. Whitelist sites where you want to see popups for legitimate subscription opportunities. All popup data is processed locally and is never transmitted, logged, or shared. The extension requests no network permissions and functions entirely offline. The source code is fully auditable and available for review.
