About this app

WHAT IT DOES

Nextdoor Web Business Recommendation Organizer automatically scans Nextdoor business recommendation pages and extracts comprehensive recommendation data including business name, category, reviewer names, ratings, recommendation text, and response counts. The tool compiles all recommendations into a sorted, filterable list that aggregates recommendations by business, showing you which businesses are most recommended in your neighborhood. Summary statistics display total recommendations, unique businesses, and how many you have reviewed. You can mark businesses as reviewed with a single click, and your tracking status is saved across sessions—making it easy to keep track of which recommendations you've already considered. The panel displays the top businesses with the highest recommendation counts, and includes sortable columns for business name, category, and recommendation count. This provides a quick reference for the most trusted local businesses based on your neighbors' recommendations.

WHERE IT RUNS

This extension operates exclusively on nextdoor.com domain pages that contain business recommendation content—specifically pages with "/recommendations", "/business", or "/service" in the URL path, or pages that display business recommendation lists and neighborhood recommendations. It works alongside the free BotGentz companion extension, which provides the necessary DOM access and page interaction capabilities. The recommendation organizer runs entirely within your local browser instance and does not communicate with any external servers or APIs. All recommendation data extraction, sorting, and tracking preferences are processed and stored on your machine, ensuring your browsing activity and review status remain private. It supports all modern Chromium-based browsers (Chrome, Edge, Brave, Opera) and Firefox when paired with the BotGentz bridge.

HOW TO USE

After installing both BotGentz and this recommendation organizer, navigate to any Nextdoor business recommendation page. Within 1-2 seconds, a panel appears in the bottom-right corner displaying a summary of recommendations with total count, unique businesses, and reviewed count. The "Top Businesses" section lists the most recommended businesses with their recommendation count, category, average rating, response count, and reviewer names. Each business entry includes a "Mark Reviewed" button—click it to track that you've already considered this recommendation, and the business will be crossed out and grayed out for easy reference. The "Sort" section lets you sort businesses by count, name, or average rating. Your sort preference and reviewed status are saved automatically across sessions. The panel provides a complete, organized view of all local business recommendations.

BUSINESS RECOMMENDATION EXTRACTION AND AGGREGATION

The recommendation organizer uses a multi-strategy extraction system to locate and parse business recommendation data from Nextdoor pages. It first attempts to find structured recommendation elements using selectors based on the site's typical class naming patterns, including "recommendation-item," "recommendation-card," "business-item," and "service-item." When these selectors fail due to site updates, the tool falls back to scanning page content for business-like text patterns, looking for elements that contain business names with common service category terms or recommendation indicators. For each detected recommendation, the tool extracts the business name through element selection or pattern matching for service-oriented business names, category through pattern matching for common service categories, reviewer name through element selection or pattern matching for "by [name]" patterns, rating through pattern matching for "X/5" or star ratings, recommendation text through element selection for content or description elements, and response count through pattern matching for response or comment counts. The aggregation step groups recommendations by business name, consolidating multiple recommendations for the same business into a single entry with total recommendation count, average rating, and all reviewers.

THE PANEL

The recommendation organizer panel is a compact, functional overlay that integrates into the Nextdoor recommendations page. It can be dragged by clicking and holding the title bar, positioning the panel anywhere on the screen for optimal visibility while you browse recommendations. The panel includes a built-in snap feature that automatically aligns to the nearest screen edge when released within 48 pixels, keeping your workspace organized. Click the collapse arrow in the top-right corner to minimize the panel to a small icon bubble showing a gear emoji, preserving screen space while keeping the tool accessible. The panel is not resizable in this version, maintaining a consistent compact size that works on all screen resolutions. Press the Escape key to instantly hide the panel; press Escape again to restore it. All position, collapse state, sort preferences, and reviewed tracking status are saved locally using GM_setValue and persist across browsing sessions.

PLEASE NOTE

This extension requires the free BotGentz extension to function—the recommendation organizer does not work standalone. Nextdoor occasionally updates its page layouts and recommendation presentation formats, which may temporarily affect data extraction accuracy. The tool extracts recommendation data from the visible page content; if recommendations are loaded dynamically after page load, you may need to wait a moment or refresh the page for the panel to populate. The reviewed tracking feature is for personal reference only and does not affect your Nextdoor account or recommendations. The tool does not store or transmit any data; all recommendation data extraction, sorting, reviewed status, and settings are processed and saved entirely within your browser. This tool is designed for personal recommendation management and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Nextdoor or its parent company. Business recommendations reflect the opinions of neighbors and should be verified independently before making decisions based on them.
