About this app

WHAT IT DOES

OnTheSnow Web Conditions Report Overlay automatically scans OnTheSnow ski resort condition pages and extracts comprehensive snow report data including base depth, summit depth, recent snowfall, open trails count, open lifts count, snow condition descriptions, and weather forecast summaries. The tool displays a floating overlay panel that presents a quick-reference conditions dashboard with color-coded status indicators—green for excellent conditions, yellow for moderate, and red for limited availability. Powder days are highlighted with a special alert, and grooming status is shown for each resort. Lift and trail availability percentages are displayed prominently, helping you quickly assess which resorts have the most terrain open. You can save your favorite resorts, and the panel remembers your list across sessions for quick access to condition reports. The panel also shows weather summaries, temperature, and wind speed when available.

WHERE IT RUNS

This extension operates exclusively on onthesnow.com domain pages that contain ski resort condition content—specifically pages with "/ski-resort/" or "/resort/" in the URL path, or pages that display snow reports and conditions data. It works alongside the free BotGentz companion extension, which provides the necessary DOM access and page interaction capabilities. The conditions report overlay runs entirely within your local browser instance and does not communicate with any external servers or APIs. All snow data extraction, condition analysis, and favorite resort management occurs on your machine, ensuring your browsing activity and resort preferences remain private. It supports all modern Chromium-based browsers (Chrome, Edge, Brave, Opera) and Firefox when paired with the BotGentz bridge.

HOW TO USE

After installing both BotGentz and this conditions overlay, navigate to any OnTheSnow resort condition page. Within 1-2 seconds, a panel appears in the bottom-right corner displaying the resort name and a star button to add it to your favorites. The "Snow Depth" section shows base and summit depths with color-coded indicators, plus recent snowfall if available. The "Trails & Lifts" section displays open trail and lift counts with availability percentages. The "Conditions" section shows snow condition (Powder, Packed/Groomed, Icy, Wet/Slushy, Variable), grooming status, powder alerts, weather summary, temperature, and wind speed. The "Favorites" section lists all your saved resorts—click any favorite to quickly navigate to its condition page. A toggle lets you automatically show the overlay on resort pages, which is enabled by default. All favorites and preferences are saved across sessions.

SNOW CONDITIONS EXTRACTION AND ANALYSIS

The conditions overlay uses a multi-strategy extraction system to locate and parse snow report data from OnTheSnow resort pages. It first attempts to find structured condition data using selectors based on the site's typical class naming patterns, including "resort-conditions," "snow-report," and "resort" elements. When these selectors fail due to site updates, the tool falls back to text-based parsing, scanning the page for key indicators using pattern matching for terms like "base depth," "summit depth," "snowfall," "trails," "lifts," and "weather." Snow condition classification uses a keyword matching system that scans for condition-related terms—"powder," "fresh," "light," "fluffy" maps to Powder, "packed," "groomed" to Packed/Groomed, "icy," "hard," "frozen" to Icy, "wet," "slushy" to Wet/Slushy, and "variable" to Variable. Powder alerts are triggered when powder-related keywords are detected. Trail and lift availability percentages are calculated from open/total counts, with color-coding thresholds: 80%+ green, 50-79% yellow, below 50% red.

THE PANEL

The conditions report overlay panel is a compact, functional overlay that integrates into the OnTheSnow resort page. It can be dragged by clicking and holding the title bar, positioning the panel anywhere on the screen for optimal visibility while you browse conditions. The panel includes a built-in snap feature that automatically aligns to the nearest screen edge when released within 48 pixels, keeping your workspace organized. Click the collapse arrow in the top-right corner to minimize the panel to a small icon bubble showing a gear emoji, preserving screen space while keeping the tool accessible. The panel is not resizable in this version, maintaining a consistent compact size that works on all screen resolutions. Press the Escape key to instantly hide the panel; press Escape again to restore it. All position, collapse state, favorite resort list, and auto-show preferences are saved locally using GM_setValue and persist across browsing sessions.

PLEASE NOTE

This extension requires the free BotGentz extension to function—the conditions overlay does not work standalone. OnTheSnow occasionally updates its page layouts and condition presentation formats, which may temporarily affect data extraction accuracy. The tool extracts conditions data from the visible page content; if snow report data is loaded dynamically after page load, you may need to wait a moment or refresh the page for the panel to populate. Snow condition classification is based on keyword detection and may not capture all nuances of actual conditions. Powder alerts are automated based on keyword matching and should be verified with official reports. The tool does not store or transmit any data; all snow data extraction, condition analysis, favorite lists, and settings are processed and saved entirely within your browser. This tool is designed for personal ski trip planning assistance and is not affiliated with or endorsed by OnTheSnow or its parent company. Snow conditions change rapidly; always verify current conditions on the official resort and OnTheSnow websites before traveling.
