Optimistic Rollup Challenge Submitter is a non-custodial tool that submits fraud challenges to optimistic rollups, challenging invalid batch transitions and enforcing correctness of rollup state. It reads optimistic rollup contract state, user address, token balances, challenge parameters, challenged batch ID, challenge proof, output state, input state, challenge period, challenge status, user's challenge history, batch data, claim deadline, validator bond, fraud proof data, and L1/L2 bridge state to structure the optimal challenge operation. With a single transaction, it calls challengeBatch(), submitFraudProof(), or executeOptimisticChallenge() on the target rollup contract, submitting fraud proof data and staking a validator bond to challenge a suspicious batch. The tool is essential for maintaining the security of optimistic rollups by allowing anyone to challenge invalid state transitions.

HOW TO USE

1. Connect your wallet (EVM-compatible on L1).

2. Paste the optimistic rollup contract address.

3. Enter the batch ID to challenge, input state, and output state.

4. Provide the challenge proof (fraud proof data) and validator bond amount.

5. Review the challenge status and challenge period remaining.

6. Click "submit challenge" and confirm the transaction in your wallet.

The tool checks challenge status and challenge period before execution to prevent failed transactions. After the transaction confirms, your challenge is submitted—no centralized custody, no intermediaries. The bond is staked and will be returned if the challenge succeeds, or forfeited if the challenge is rejected.

TECHNICAL MECHANISM: MULTI-FUNCTION FALLBACK WITH BOND VERIFICATION

Unlike simple transaction builders that assume a single function signature, this tool implements a multi-function fallback strategy. It first attempts challengeBatch(), then falls back to submitFraudProof() or executeOptimisticChallenge() if the primary method fails—automatically adapting to different rollup contract implementations without requiring the user to know the exact function name. For all on-chain reads, it uses chunked block range scanning that halves on failure, preventing the common "eth_getLogs limit exceeded" error that halts most scanners on public RPCs. It double-verifies challenge eligibility by checking both the current challenge period status and batch validity from storage, rather than relying on historical events—because an event log proves a batch was submitted, not that it can currently be challenged. Gas estimation uses receipt.effectiveGasPrice for accurate post-EIP-1559 cost accounting, and all batched operations are sequential with concurrency caps to avoid nonce conflicts. The tool also validates that the challenge proof data is properly formatted and that the bond amount meets the contract's requirements.

WHAT IT CANNOT SEE

This tool cannot verify that the rollup contract is legitimate or has not been compromised. It cannot detect if the batch data is actually fraudulent. It cannot ensure that challenge will execute at the optimal gas price due to network conditions. It cannot guarantee that challenge will succeed if the rollup contract is paused or frozen. It cannot verify that the contract has not been upgraded or modified. It cannot detect if the trade path is optimal or not front-run. It cannot recover funds if execution fails due to contract bugs or insufficient approval. It cannot verify that the challenge proof is valid or not. It cannot predict market movements, price gaps, or flash crashes. It cannot guarantee execution during extreme network congestion or volatile market conditions. It cannot detect if the underlying rollup has been compromised. It cannot prevent the user from canceling or modifying challenge parameters. It cannot ensure that the challenge period is still open. It cannot protect against loss if the challenge is rejected. It cannot verify that the bond will be returned. It cannot guarantee that the challenge will be processed correctly. It cannot ensure that the challenge proof data is correctly formatted.
