About this app

WHAT IT DOES

The Options Position Closer enables users to close options positions and release collateral. Closing an options position allows the writer to retrieve their locked collateral after the option has expired or been settled, or to exit a position early if the contract supports early close. This tool provides a streamlined interface to close options positions with configurable amounts and position status verification.

The tool reads options contract state, option position, token balances, strike price, expiry timestamp, option parameters, holder status, collateral amount, and position status. It supports closing options positions with configurable amounts (or full close). The tool verifies that the position is closeable (not already closed, and either expired or eligible for early close). It displays detailed position information including collateral locked, strike price, expiry, and closeable status.

HOW TO USE

1. Connect your wallet using the Connect button. The tool automatically detects your connected address and network.

2. Select the network where your options contract is deployed using the network dropdown.

3. Enter the options contract address and the position ID you want to close.

4. Optionally set the close amount (enter 0 for full close).

5. Configure your slippage tolerance percentage for the close transaction.

6. Click "Load position" to verify the position exists and check closeable status.

7. Review the position details in the preview panel including contract, position ID, owner, asset token, collateral locked, strike price, expiry, and closeable status.

8. Click "Close Position" to submit the close transaction through your wallet.

9. The tool will execute the close and update the position status.

TECHNICAL MECHANISM

The tool interacts with the options contract's close function, which typically takes the position ID and amount as parameters. Before closing, the tool reads the position state to verify that the position is closeable (not already closed, and either expired or eligible for early close). The close function then settles the position: for expired options, it releases the collateral back to the writer; for early close, it may settle at current market price or return a portion of the collateral. The tool checks the position status before allowing close. The close history records the transaction hash and close details.

WHAT IT CANNOT SEE

This tool cannot verify that the price feed is accurate or reliable; it relies on the options contract's internal state. It cannot detect if the oracle has been compromised or manipulated. It cannot ensure that position closing will execute at the optimal price due to slippage, market volatility, and block timing. It cannot guarantee that close will succeed if the options contract is paused or frozen. It cannot verify that the options contract has not been upgraded or modified. It cannot detect if the close path is optimal or if the transaction is being front-run by malicious actors. It cannot recover funds if execution fails due to contract bugs, insufficient approvals, out-of-gas errors, or blockchain reorgs. It cannot verify that the position is closeable or that closing is economically optimal. It cannot predict market movements, price gaps, or flash crashes that may affect close value. It cannot guarantee execution during extreme network congestion, high gas prices, or volatile market conditions. It cannot detect if the underlying options protocol has been compromised. It cannot prevent the user from canceling or modifying close parameters through other interfaces. It cannot ensure that closing is economically optimal or that gas costs do not exceed close value. It cannot guarantee that collateral will be fully returned. It cannot guarantee that the position will be closed before expiry.

PLEASE NOTE

This tool is designed for EVM-compatible blockchains (Ethereum, Polygon, Arbitrum, Optimism, Base, BSC, Avalanche, Fantom, and others). It requires an active wallet connection and sufficient native currency for gas fees. Always verify the options contract address, position ID, and close parameters before executing. Close is only possible if the position is closeable—check the status before attempting to close. The tool is provided as-is with no warranty; users assume full responsibility for their transactions and should exercise caution when closing options positions. For mainnet usage, ensure the options contract has been audited and you understand the risks of position closing including settlement risk, gas costs, and smart contract risks.
