About this app
WHAT IT DOES
Pre-Sign Gas and Fee Explainer reads pending transaction data from your wallet or a transaction hash, analyzes the gas price, gas limit, and transaction value, and provides a plain-language explanation of the total cost. It fetches current network gas conditions, calculates the total fee in ETH and USD, compares the gas price to recent network averages, and flags excessive gas settings. The tool generates an AI explanation of what the fee pays for and whether the gas settings are appropriate.
HOW TO USE
When your wallet prompts you to sign a transaction, copy the transaction hash from your wallet or the requesting dApp. Open the Pre-Sign Gas and Fee Explainer, connect your EVM wallet, and paste the transaction hash into the input field. Click "Look up transaction" to fetch the gas details and current network conditions. Alternatively, click "Manual entry" to enter gas price, gas limit, value, and recipient address directly. The tool will display the gas price, gas limit, gas cost in ETH and USD, and total cost including transaction value. Review the AI explanation to understand whether the gas settings are reasonable compared to current network conditions.
TECHNICAL SECTION — GAS ANALYSIS WITH NETWORK CONTEXT
The tool fetches transaction data from the blockchain using the connected wallet's provider, extracting gas price, gas limit, value, and recipient address. It calculates the total gas cost in ETH using the formula gasPrice × gasLimit. The tool compares the gas price to typical network averages for the current chain—flagging prices above 50 Gwei as elevated and above 100 Gwei as high. A rough USD estimate is also provided for context. The AI layer receives all gas details and network context, generating a plain-language explanation of the fee, what it pays for, and whether the settings are excessive. This approach helps you understand the cost of your transaction before you sign.
WHAT IT CANNOT SEE
This tool cannot predict future gas price fluctuations. It cannot guarantee that the estimated gas cost will match the actual cost when the transaction is mined. It cannot account for complex contract interactions that use more gas than estimated. It cannot detect if the transaction will fail or revert. It cannot determine if the gas price being set is optimal for the current network conditions. The user must still verify the transaction details and gas settings in their wallet before signing. The AI explanation is generated from on-chain data and does not constitute financial advice.
PLEASE NOTE
EVM chains only. Explanations are AI-generated from data the app reads on-chain—always review what you are actually signing in your wallet before approving it. The wallet's own signature prompt remains the final and only protection against unwanted transactions. This tool is read-only; it never sends transactions or signs anything on your behalf.
